Because the functions listed when the vehicle is purchased don't work as they advertised it.

This is a real issue

The Starlink system is unsafe. It takes far too long to do anything, requiring the driver to keep their eyes off the road for long enough to veer off course or crash. WRX's have a sky-high insurance rate, now we know why. Everyone is crashing while trying to change the radio station.

Cause the Head unit sucks, and has not software update at all!

I agree! The system is laggy/very buggy.

My starlink system is terrible. Worst I've ever used, that is when it is actually functioning and not turning completely off and rebooting randomly in my 2014 Crosstrek Limited. Never seen a phone system that can receive commands okay but when you state the person in your address book to call you get stuck in an infinity loop of "please repeat". So you just dial it manually..there is so much more to say but I'm to irritated to continue.

In my 2016 wrx, this is the most unsafe thing I have ever used in a car. Really about the same as texting and driving and to think how much I paid to get the upgraded auto system.

Purchased an Impreza two days ago.
The Starlink system does not have the capability that I was sold.

It does not provide hands free operation of the audio system and it does not give full control of the audio system via the steering wheel buttons.

Specific examples
*The voice command system cannot take me to podcasts on my iPhone or to specific playlists.
*A new playlist was created during the setup by the sales rep which I do not want and don't know how to delete but is the playlist that the system plays automatically.
*I am not aware of any way to mange the contact list once it has been populated.

I have a 2016 Subaru Outback and purchased the car, in part, to get the functions that StarLink was SUPPOSED to have. It does not work well with my iPhone 6S Plus. I had upgraded my 2004 Subaru stereo system to give me the functionality that the 2016 DOES NOT HAVE with my iPhone!

It's horrible when you buy your new car to know that the mirror link is not compatible with your phone.

Unsafe and unusable

Starlink features are (rarely) hit and (mostly) miss. The erratic functionality is almost worse than not having them at all.

Pandora will connect and play for 45 seconds to a minute, then disconnect. Behavior confirmed on three different phones (1 iOS, 2 android), so it is NOT the phone.
