The exchange rate in the dumps is already bad enough as is, don't go throwing a tax on top of that.

Really? Another tax? If the government would just stop wasting all of our hard-earned money on all the corrupt politicians, shady deals, and unethical kickbacks, we could actually CUT taxes!

Seriously? NO...

The only service maintaining or bettering the web is the ISP itself and they are already charging vat. Where on earth will this money go? Not to upgrading non governmental services that I can assure you. If a bill like this gets passed the consumer act doesn't make any sense at all cause I myself is operating a business that earns less than the required amount to charge VAT. But if I sell the product online (it is digital anyways), vat automatically gets charged??? Where's the middleman? How should I pay MY company tax.

It's retarded.

So buying something from overseas (which isn't available in South Africa) goes a little something like this:

* Weak Rand = Expensive purchase
* Item Arrives = Massive import tax
* An additional 14% get's thrown on top of all that.

The government is robbing us of all our hard earned cash to go spend it on bullshit for themselves and not the citizens.

There is no way that South Africans can support more tax. We clearly have problems with this. This is not a democratic nation if the nation can't decide as a whole on what the money is even spent on.
