Grovedale Public Library

Dear Sirs and Madams,

For the past six years I’ve worked in the Grovedale Penson School as the Junior Kindergarten Instructor. I greatly enjoy planning fun and unique events, and because I am a lover of books and words, my role of promoting early literacy is especially close to my heart.

This has been my first year working also in the school library. I have immediately recognized our community’s love for books and reading. When I consider all the possibilities a fulltime library could mean for our entire community, I realized the time to bring forward the idea of creating a Grovedale Public Library is now.

After reaching out to the Peace Library System, I realized the thought of bringing a Public Library to Grovedale is not one of impossibility. Created by funding from municipalities, member library boards, the province, and by contracts-for-service with a number of school authorities, the Peace Library System service area covers over 92,000 square miles (24 million hectares). Its current member population hits over 164,000 in 38 municipalities. Peace Library System helps their member libraries become essential information hubs in their communities. If our community can show a great interest in this idea,  it can then be brought to the MD of Greenview. Interest, support, and approval could then lead to the Peace Library System guiding us into becoming their next library member.

I've been lucky enough to find another Grovedale Public Library advocat in Mrs. Carmon Williams. Together we wish to spread this idea and turn it into a reality.

Libraries are community builders, community centers, centers for the arts, champions of youth, and they provide free education for those who wish to upgrade skills. Our entire community of Grovedale is growing fast and would greatly benefit from what a public library has to offer.

With the support of the Grovedale Community Club, I urge you to sign our petition and show your interest in a Grovedale Public Library.
