Please sign this petition to support Glasgow's bid to hold Am Mòd Nàiseanta Rìoghail in 2015.

By bringing the Mòd to Glasgow:

  • More and more people will become more culturally aware of Scotland's hidden Gaelic world
  • Scotland's linguisitic and cultural heritage will be showcased to the world
  • Opportunities will be created for people of all ages to perform across a range of competitive disciplines including Gaelic Music and Song, Highland Dancing, Instrumental, Drama, Sport and Literature
  • More opportunities to learn Gaelic will be created, and for current learners their will be more opportunities to speak and practice Gaelic
  • There will be fringe events such as concerts and demonstrations featuring traditional musicians and singers from Scotland
  • More volunteering opportunities will be created
  • Tourism in the city will increase
  • The local economy will receive a well-needed boost
  • There will be more chances to socialise with Gaels and non-Gaels to forge new friendships and renew old ones
  • Glasgow City Council will be able to integrate the event with their Gaelic Language Plan from 2012

An Comunn Gàidhealach is one of the oldest and most respected Gaelic organisations. Founded in Oban in 1891, it has long been a leading light in the teaching, learning and use of the Gaelic language and the study and cultivation of Gaelic literature, history, music and art. Through the organisation and running of the Royal National Mòd and grass roots community development work, An Comunn Gaidhealach continues to further its aim of supporting and developing all aspects of the Gaelic language, culture, history and heritage at local, national and international levels.
