I believe as a nation we have a right to know who's who especially if that person is a sex predator, we cannot be kept in the dark about this things. Because we don't know them some even end up in work places where they should not be at such as around children in schools, some being our neighbors yet we have no clue that they are dangerous

I was once charged with a crime of theft(stealing food vouchers) and yes I had done it and admitted to it. But while I was attending my case, I regretted with every Fibre of my bones and swore to never EVER find myself in that kind of situ
No matter how poor i am. I plead guilty to the charge and did my time. But what I noted during that period was how fraud is treated as a heavy crime in SA. People served 8 years- 15 years jail time for that type of crime but for violent crimes such as rape and murder they got early released. I remember there was a lady who was so disappointed that her 6 year old daughters were raped daily by their father, recorded him self performing the acts, and distributed the videos to his friends. That man got bail and sent back to his house to be with those kids while he awaits his trial. Those were not my kids but I felt the mother's pain. I'm not signing this petition because I'm convicted of a crime but I'm signing this because I believe crime is crime and it must be dealt with the same. That list must go public. Imagine fir a crime such as theft, your name will be available to all financial institutions, your ID black listed for 10 years plus, no prospects to even work as anything not even a cleaner but rapists are protected, they get loans, jobs and education in prison and 2 meals daily. Oh they also earn a salary of R20 daily in prison for their chores if they got a longer sentence (I stand to be corrected)

Kgomotso Bonoko (Johannesburg, 2025-04-08)

#348

I am a rape victim and the SA offender list being public has the potential to protect other girls and boys out there from having to go through the life altering trauma I did

I'm tired of seeing predators and pedophiles protected in this country on all spheres, even national government. It's terrifying to live in country with one of the highest gbv and femicide rates in the world, and your government, the one that supposed to protect you, cares more about the safety and privacy of predators than the safety of the most vulnerable in our society.

Mathapelo M (Boksburg, 2025-04-08)
