I grew up in Point St. Charles and still have many friends there. I attend the Hall of Recognition ceremonies every year which donates scholarships to residents of Point St. Charles.

I grew up in Pointe St Charles. I went to the Boy's and Girl's club library when there was no public library in the area I went to the sock-hops, swimming lessons and games room. It is as important as any other Pointe establishment.

I dont think its right many people spent their childhoods there. there is memories there and its a great place in our community and even the children or people that go there would be devastated its gone and for some people its the closest place they can work out or take a class not everyone can afford bus passes or cars or even gas and it works for them because they can just walk there

Ashley Cuffey (Montreal, 2019-11-14)

I'm signing this because the community needs the YMCA for the kids, for the parents. Its important that every suburb has a center for families. Although my children are grown up now but they did go there. I've gone there. It's a little piece of history and memories to remember. The YMCA provides soo much for the community. Daycare, after school program, day camps. Youth activities and services, adult activities and services, the gym. Why shut it down, make it better.

June Bennett (LaSalle , 2019-11-14)

We need our YMCA!

The YMCA has a moral and ethical obligation to develop a strategic direction and plan to ensure financial stability. What measures where taken prior to this devastating announcement? The YMCA undertook the responsibility to the Point when the torch was passed on by the Boys & Girls Club. This community has faced adversity throughout its long and rich history. Time once again to show our fighting spirit!

It was my second home growing up. Love going back once a year to the H.O.R. And to see what they do for the community.

The YMCA does so much for the community, it would be a real shame to lose that.

I grew up in the area and have seen firsthand what the YMCA does for the community. I still have family and friends who live in Point St. Charles and who value the YMCA.

My kids attend this after school.program, my soon to be newborn son will be needing the daycare,
I have attended this ymca as a child.
We use the daycamp summer service aswell

Stacey Parsonage (Montreal , 2019-11-14)

My daughter uses the after school program. She attends the day camp..... we live next door. The YMCA is the heart of the Point!
I see them moving it closer to Griffintown because they want to attract people to fill up at them condos....
But the Point and its people need these services. Without them, watch what's ganna happen to are kids that's will now need to turn to the streets :(

Stephanie AdamCzewski (Montreal , 2019-11-14)

I’m signing this because this is my childhood YMCA, which they have helped me improve who I am and kept me off the streets.
Please keep this up and running in our neighborhood.

I used the Y for badminton, basketball, yoga, tai chi, and more. It's great. There's no equivalent space in the community. The logic behind shutting it down seems to be to punish poorer communities for not being "profitable". The YMCA is a charity. The whole point is that the donations and wealthy neighbourhoods help subsidize poorer ones so that everyone can have access to affordable community and fitness centres. Otherwise it's just a business.

Madeleine Macdonald (Montreal, 2019-11-14)

The YMCA helps children and families grow together and enjoy life within the community.

This Y in Point St. Charles is THE community builder people need. Since I was born it was the Baby Wellness Clinic, the Children's Library, the Summer Day Camp we all went to, the Teen Center we played sports and ran our newspaper and took classes through. We learned to swim and earn our badges through the Red Cross. We made lifelong friends. As adults we take fitness classes that keep us healthy, and we ho to events that gather us together in the hall. A superb Daycare keeps our children safe and engaged as we work.
Perhaps the City and the MELS could collaborate to keep it going. It is a huge loss in the Southwest Borough.

I spent a summer at my grandparents place in pointe st charles when I was 10 and I loved going to the YMCA. It enabled me to meet so many people I would have never met if I didnt go. I'm so glad I went, and I want children to have the same chance at meeting new people like I did.

YMCA PSC is a vital part of this community for all ages and income brackets. People depend on this place to gather, learn, stay healthy, integrate, stay off the streets and be involved. It should not be taken without input from the community!!

It goes without saying that the YMCA Point St. Charles is such an important and integral part of the community and should be supported. Although I do not live in the area, I chose the YMCA Point St. Charles for my physical activities because you cannot simply find this type of familial neighbourhood environment elsewhere.

It is a community staple. Keeps kids learning after school. There are no other gyms in Pt St Charles. The adjoining daycare is one of a very few daycares for the community. It's a central location. The community needs to rally for all the social programs it is associated with.
