I’m signing because my child will soon start elementary school and is not vaccinated against Covid. My child’s and other children’s lives are at risk with this new rule.

It is important to me to keep kids safe in commonwealth of PA. Current board has pivoted from CDC guidelines. I am totally against removing mask requirements in CV schools.

Let us not politicize future of our kids. Mask will safe guard our kids and others around them.

It's plain and simple, mask up to protect the spread. Mask restriction should be removed only post vaccination.

I believe the board made a hasty decision based upon outside pressure from a politically motivated group on non-district citizens. This decision was not only not based on science and data but also goes directly against PDE, DOH, and CDC guidance. As a parent and a scientist I am disappointed and saddened that this district would cave to pressure without hearing from both sides of this concern.

Please don’t put our children’s life at risk. We request you to reverse the mask mandate for Elementary school kids because they don’t have vaccine yet.

. We should not risk the student’s health with the no-mask mandate, at least until after the elementary kids also get an opportunity to get vaccinated. We can then rely on the herd-immunity, within the school, when we have a good mix of vaccinated and un-vaccinated students & staff in school.

2. School buses are shared among elementary, middle, and high schools. There is no plan to sanitize the buses between the rides. Students wearing masks will protect the un-vaccinated elementary students., not to mention everyone else.

3. We understand that a no-mask mandate means it is optional and students can opt to wear a mask. But a student opting to wear a mask can only be protected if other students/staff in the school also wears masks. So, we are dependent on other students/staff to wear a mask for protection of the student opting to wear a mask.

4. We understand that the students can choose a virtual school option. All parents cannot afford to keep children at home for various reasons. And looking at the current school year, we had a low rate of infections when CDC guidelines (including wearing masks) were followed.

5. We understand that there could be various reasons, medical and otherwise, that a student cannot wear a mask, which we are sure the school allows such exceptions. So simply allowing exceptions to the minority of students, will make their life easier and protects many of the students by keeping the mask mandate.

I’m signing because children under 12 can’t be vaccinated and we need to keep them safe until they can be vaccinated. Masks are the best defense they have right now.

Having a child with an autoimmune disorder, even a common cold can wreak havoc on her health/well-being. My children do not learn well asynchronously and require face to face instruction for their academic success. Please follow the science and wait until elementary age children have the ability to be vaccinated before removing the mask mandate.

Mario de La Barrera (Hampden Township, 2021-05-27)

Strongly disagree with the mask mandate, please reverse it. Not safe for any kids especially elementary schools kids because of no vaccine available for them yet.

My family believes in science and science has shown the benefits of masking. I have spent an entire year with my children at home due to concerns about this pandemic. Shucking the masks before my children, aged 9 and 6 can be vaccinated puts added pressure on their mental health having to continue to be home. Please reverse this decision so that they can return to school physically in the fall.

Masks are essential to the safety of students and staff. Intentionally going against the mandates of PDE and DOH is poor leadership, awful governance, and puts people at risk. Stay the course until we are advised otherwise by the EXPERTS. Not by an out of town lobbying group.

Sarah Yerger (Camp Hill, 2021-05-27)

I’m signing because the children need to at least be protected by masks until they’re all eligible to be vaccinated. My daughter is soon turning six and will be eligible in the Fall (hopefully). She deserves to be protected by her community until that time.

In concern to my kid, all kids and staff’s health who are attending there. These sudden changes should not trigger negative impacts. Still ages less than 12 are not vaccinated and it’s risk for those kids and their family when there are new variants each month.

Kowsalya V (Mechanicsburg , 2021-05-27)

This is not the time to lift mask mandates or CDC recommended mitigation measures, not until all children have the opportunity to be vaccinated. This is not the time to risk their current or future health. A few more months will not hurt them or us: lifting mitigation measures will.

Be smart about this. Be patient. Our kids are adaptable, more so than the parents. They’ve handled this well, so far. They can handle masks a few weeks into the next school year. Give them credit for resilience. Don’t short them this simple protection.

I am concerned for all school kids in CV school district and would like students to wear masks as this can mitigate spread of COVID 19 amongst unvaccinated kids. Please mandate the use of masks in school buildings and school buses to avoid spread of COVID.

Disclaimer: all statements in this comment are made as a PARENT within the district. They are my PERSONAL views as a PARENT and do not reflect the opinions of the school district.

I am signing because I have two children not yet eligible to be vaccinated. My child who can be has Type 1 Diabetes, and the complications that would be caused by catching Covid (or any) illness, even with vaccination, can be fatal. I believe, as a parent, that it is in the best interest of our families and students across the district to continue the mandate until vaccination numbers reach herd immunity levels to protect all who enter our buildings. It is irresponsible to do otherwise.

Catherine de La Barrera (Enola, 2021-05-27)

Since we have more kids joining in peson this year, maintaining social distance would be next to impossible, so in order to protect our kids taking all precautions becomes necessary.
So I'm signing this petition as I care for my child and other kids likewise.

Irrespective of how safe the school environment is, Parents are always worried about their kids well being and safety in Public places. Most of the kids were virtual this year for the same reason. Hoping that things would go back to normal we opted for Face to Face, but now with this no-mask Mandate, we may have to revisit our options.

Praveena Sagi (Mechanicsburg, 2021-05-27)

I support all the kids who have breathing issues or underlying disease but are not vaccinated. Covid 19 may not show much effect on kids but the new variants are showing effects on kids and young generation

the decision that was made at the board meeting was done so irresponsibly and without hearing other sides. I am shocked that all but 1 board member voted to allow the motion to go through. Our schools should be following CDC guidelines. I opted to send my children back F2F next year assuming we would be following those guidelines. This is clearly a political move and it's irresponsible. CV has done a great job this year and should stand strong against pressure from one side and give voice to all who are concerned for the well being of our children.
