Był wtedy działaczem ruchu "Pokój Teraz", który wraz z późniejszym premierem Icchakiem Rabinem doprowadził do traktatu w Oslo, nagrodzonego Pokojową Nagrodą Nobla dla sygnatariuszy, o oddaniu Gazy Palestyńczykom - taka go wdzięczność teraz spotkała.
