NICE Bus Rally at Lynbrook Station 12pm Sat March 11th.

2017-03-07 16:01:25

This Saturday, March 11th at 12pm, "the 11518" facebook page, created for devasting Hurricane Sandy affected South Shore will host rally and press conference to save all targeted NICE Buses, n14, n17, n19, n36, n45, n51, n57, n62, n78, n79, and portion of n70/72 buses in Suffolk County, etc.

If you have free time, please come to this rally to show car folks why bus services are important for everyone.

https://www.facebook.com/events/1009253145873263/

Rally and Press Conference will be southbound n31/32/36 bus stop at Broadway/Sunrise Highway by bench and small All Island Taxi Kiosk.

Please join us as we stand in solidarity with our elected officials to call on Nassau County and NICE to save the n36 along with the recent bus cuts across Nassau County. We thank the following elected officials who are joining us in our fight! We must protect Nassau families and bus riders! This is our only mode of public transportation in East Rockaway!!

NYS Senator Todd Kaminsky
NYS Assemblyman Brian Curran
Nassau County Legislator Laura Curran
Nassau County Legislator William Gaylor
Village of East Rockaway
Village of Lynbrook
Village of Freeport

The n36 runs from Lynbrook, to East Rockaway, Oceanside, Baldwin and Freeport. It is the ONLY bus route in East Rockaway and connects our community to oth...er bus transfers. We have a lot of residents that use this route for work, school, doctor's appointments, and even leisure. With a lot of communities focusing on downtown revitalization, restaurant districts, and ways to a good urban planning concept, we need to have reliable access to all modes of public transportation, and this includes buses. In East Rockaway, we also have residents of neighboring communities who rely on the n36 to get to their places of employment in East Rockaway, including our own library! This helps our local economy tremendously! We cannot afford these cuts, especially the n36 as there is no public bus alternate.

We must stand together on the n36 route along with the others that were cut and demand that these routes be funded. Our communities growth and sustainability depend on it.
