Asbury Place Speed Limit Reduction & Sign

Dear Neighbor,

It has been brought to the Asbury Place Home Owners Association Board of Directors that speeding remains an issue in Asbury Place (AP).  Currently, AP residents are supposed to abide by the city speed limit of 35 MPH. This is meant to be understood by all licensed drivers as there is no sign in the neighborhood that conveys this information. By law, when no sign is posted the city speed limit is to be obeyed.

This petition is two-fold.  First, it has been discussed that the reduction of the speed limit from 35 to 25 would help to decrease driving speeds, increase awareness of pedestrians and encourage more complete stops at stop signs.  The second aspect is that this change would require the addition of a speed limit sign to our neighborhood roads.  The goal of this sign would be to inform drivers that the speed limit is different than that of the city, remind drivers to keep to a reasonable (and specifically 25 MPH or lower) speed when driving and ultimately reduce the number of complaints that our neighbors have about others' driving.

We hope you'll consider this petition as an attempt to further improve our neighborhood as safe driving impacts all of us and our visitors.

Sincerely,

Your HOA Board of Directors
