Bill C-54 Hold Individuals with mental illness criminally

It is essential to revisit the NCR status, removing the perpetrator's freedom of choice.  Deciding to continue or seek out treatment for mental illness should not be the individual's choice, as the person is not of sound mind.

It is imperative to ensure adequate, relevant, legal treatment is provided.

Having a previous marriage to an individual with mental health issues, I am greatly concerned for my safety, as well as the general public.  The former spouse chose to abruptly stop taking anti-psychotic medication.  The person is no longer employed due to psychotic thoughts and actions.  The individual has chosen to self-medicate via illicit drug use.  This seems to exacerbate the problems associated with the mental illness.

I would petition to  hold individuals with mental illness criminally responsible for committing unlawful acts in our country.  I would seek committment within our Parliamentary system to ensure our rights in Canada to live in safety and security.
