CONTINUATION OF CLOSING OF EDUCATIONAL INST. OWING TO DENGUE

Dengue  has created havoc in Lahore & other areas of Punjab. It has killed many and left those hit by this plague,weak and exhausted. Hospitals are overflowing with patients affected by Dengue.

Latest figures released by the Punjab Health Department state that on Wednesday 412 new cases of Dengue were reported, taking the total number of cases to 4,989(The News 16th September 2011).

According to Pakistan Observer , Agriculture Secretary Capt. (Retired) Arif Nadeem told media at King Edward Medical University (KEMU) on Tuesday said that a technical committee comprising 36 entomologists for vector control and checking the breeding of mosquitoes will take measures for the elimination of breeding places of mosquitoes at town level. The paper reported on 21-Sept 2011that the total number of dengue patients in the province has increased to 7776 including 7100 in Lahore. While 1110 new cases have been reported during the last 24 hours in the province out of which 974 cases relate to Lahore.

Owing to constraints of economic resources to combat the plague, it is earnestly appealed that the Punjab Government may declare contination of schools and university closure for another ten days(till 30th September 2011), to help children stay indoors and in safe environment.
