Because it wasn't the tiger's fault, he was doing what was natural to him. Very sad for the family.

Because OZ shouldn't be put down because of his natural animal instincts, it's what he was born to do, kill. He is a wild animal and always will be no matter how hard they try to train him or because he is locked behind closed bars. He deserves to live, it wasn't his fault!

as sad as it is that this zoo keeper lost her life, the tiger was most probably only doing what was natural for it
condolences to the family and friends and staff at the zoo, but please dont put the tiger down

She was a "passionate" "conservationist". This would be the last thing she would have wanted.

I signed this petition because this beautiful creature's future is being decided on - whether to live or be put down. This poor animal has every right to live as you or I. He was most probably protecting his territory. Please, please don't put him to sleep. It would be a tragedy if you do. I am so, so sorry for the zoo keeper who lost her life, however, I am positive she wouldn't want to see this beautiful animal be put down.

YOU CANNOT KILL A TIGER FOR BEING A TIGER!!! THEY ARE NOT PETS!!! LET HIM LIVE!!! HUMANS MADE HIM DEPENDENT, SO HUMANS NEED TO MAKE SURE HE IS ABLE TO LIVE A LONG AND HAPPY LIFE!!!

I do not believe it was the Tigers Fault, The Tiger is a Wild animal that was taken out of its Natural Habitat.and now they want to put it down for doing something that is natural to them? I feel for the family at their time of sadness but I bet the Keeper wouldn't even want the Tiger to be put down. In NZ we don't even put down people that kill people or people that kill their own children( and that's not natural instinct of humans) so why put an ANIMAL that was just doing what everyone knows they do??? Save the tiger!!!

Because Oz hasn't done anything wrong. The keeper knew the risks. It's part of he job. Condolences to the family and zoo staff.

Because tiger's aren't meant to live in cages so if he killed his keeper he was only following his natural instinct. No one should be put down for that

A beautiful animal, no need to punish him, just put in more safety policies, investigate why it happened

It is not this animals fault. Something has obviously spooked this beautiful creature. If I am ever killed by an animal from the wild I would never want this animal put down. Perhaps greater care needs to be taken now when keepers go into their environment. They are wild animals by nature and we have to respect this. Please ,oh please do not put him down.

Because while the death of the zoo keeper is tragic, this is a wild animal. I am positive this woman would have dedicated her life to these majestic animals and that she would in no way hold the tiger responsible. This is just an unfortunate accident that happened as a result of entering a wild animals territory/domain.

Please don't contribute to reducing the numbers of this magnificent animal - it was doing what tigers do and acting by instinct. I am sure his keeper would not want him euthanised - we are there to protect them. Putting this one down will not send a message to other tigers who won't know. PLEASE SAVE HIM..!

The keeper who was killed would not have wanted the tiger to be killed

It is absolutely not the animal's fault. It's a tragic situation but don't blame the animal. It's instinctive and by rights he shouldn't be in captivity. Sadly it's the error of the zoo keeper or zoo.

Although i feel compassion for the family of the zoo keeper who lost her life doing her job, the tiger was only defending his territory, and was obviously feeling threatened by her presence. Also as tigers are endangered killing him will only help extinction of the species to come a lot sooner than absolutely necessary.

We do not put down people if they kill someone by accident (or on deliberately) so why should this innocent animal be killed. It was a tragic and unfortunate accident :(

No animals should be held captive anywhere anytime or any place.

The tiger was only doing what came natural to him. He's been locked up in a cage with no place to roam free. Is be irritated too.

it is not right to get revenge - it won't help the tigers or bring the keeper back. We put the tiger into this situation. Euthanising it will achieve nothing..
