Shame on the council for not getting rid of business rates on these kind of premises. If it's a sport environment and the council can rock up and check it's a fully working business, then get rid of Buisness rates.

I belive a indoor skate park should be a free place for under 18's to go and socialise. As they mainly sit at home all the time

My son, Tim Bottomley, designed and built BeastRampz. His aim was to provide a safe environment for all age groups to enjoy the popular sports of B.M.X. skateboarding and scooter activities. He achieved this to an extremely high standard. A foam pit was installed, a shop for parts, a cafe with seating, and also a small room should there be accidents.
Tim and Mark took First Aid courses and Food Hygiene Certificates.
All age ranges came to the park, grandparents bringing young kids with an interest in these activities, parents encouraging sport and teenagers, instead of lounging around street corners, or in their rooms wasting valuable hours on their computer based interests, were getting fit. BeastRampz was a centre for social activities, shopping for parts which needed to be repaired or changed and with the cafe providing good and wholesome food, a family could spend all day there. A viewing balcony with comfy sofas and chairs so that visitors could relax with a coffee and good book if they wished.
A massive plus also being that Special Needs children had the opportunity to take part. The ongoing advantage amongst other things, was that the able bodied could help and support where necessary. Wonderful competitions were held here, with competitors travelling from abroad. Films have been made there.
And then the combination of a greedy landlord and a stupid council, made it impossible to carry on. Overcharged rents and despicable individuals, you have now ruined such a wonderful asset for the population of Manchester. The only indoor skatepark has closed. If any of you have any conscious at all, you need to reconsider your actions!

Wholehearted in agreement. I am Tim's mum and we are all gutted. Beast was Tim and Mark's dream made reality. Can you contact the tv and press and create a rumble. As I live in Mousehole, Cornwall, I am to far away. If I lived there, heads would role. Unscrupulous landlord and stupid council are totally to blame. People are not aware that Tim hasn't taken a penny in wages because they were being fleeced! Please do what you can to help. Im doing what I can from up here. The only mistake they made, they were advised aggainst becoming a charity! Get back to me if I can help. Sue.

I take my son to beast rampz all the time he's nearly 12, the staff are friendly and very helpful showing the younger ones what to do, the park is also good for the adults who are waiting about nice cafe and chilled out seating area, this is a great loss to the community and I feel for all the children who used it as they now have no were to go

This place of sport and leisure is one of the best I have been too in the UK, why its closed down - I don't know? Its simple, facilities like these should not be kept from the people of and surrounding Manchester. There are a large proportion of people who trained and visited Beast Rampz recreationally on a frequent basis, this should still be the case. REOPEN BEAST RAMPZ!!!!

Its always good to have a place to go and express your passion. This is a good training facility and there is no other like it in the Manchester area. By closing this you are denying people their form of expression!

I Agree with this comment..

It was a great place for kids to go to and spend time.
Without this place, where else can they go?
It would be a huge mistake not helping this amazing place.

Part of Manchester roller derby league and believe parks like this are critical to an active and vibrant city culture. There's more to Manchester than soccer and shopping! Use skating as a tourism tool like in Australia/USA. Good for people, good for business.

Kids are going to start riding street in town a lot more now, putting them in direct conflict with the police and pedestraians. But where else are they supposed to go?

Another unfortunate victim of senseless capitalist gentrification which has plagued the surrounding areas of central Manchester.

I am fed up with profiteering landlords that couldn't care less about the community, small traders and people who want to set up small businesses.
