I fully support the aims of this group of bringing democracy to Shetland's charitable trust. It must not find its way into the toy box of a self-selecting, self-perpetuating cabal of local power brokers.

Because I want Shetlanders to have more say in what happens to their money.

In all cases where monies are held by a trust for the benefit of the local community the only way to ensure proper governance is that the trustees are all elected officials. This is not the case in Shetland and therefore the community has no power over the manner in which the trust is run. Elections should be held as soon as possible to correct this injustice.

something has to be done about this quango -- most of the members seem to live on another planet; they should be accountable to the people of Shetland -- at the moment they are not.

I think the people of Shetland should decide the most suitable persons to be trustees of Shetland's Charitable Trust.
Folk should nominate who they think would do the best job, and like a general election, we would vote on the list of nominees.
The nominees with the most votes would be the new trustees.

I'm signing this petition because something positive needs to be done about the situation. By having councillers on the committee, I feel that they would use their office to dip in the till, which isn't what this money is to be used for. It belongs to the people of Shetland, and I think the normal every day people need to be in charge.

Because I believe in democracy and local accountability. Elites should never be allowed to perpetuate themselves or be allowed to exploit resources material and financial to the detriment of the local living community. Please correct the poorly written 'Scot's Language' piece from a member of the action committee as in the section 'Who We Are' as this reads very poorly and is incorrect use of Scots.

I believe that we must attack all people who voluntary give their time to help the Shetland people we should denigrate and try and rubbish these ridiculous Shetlanders.
