We should not accept this, but we should also not be surprised by this. The Bible and one true God has plenty to speak of regarding self worship and where it leads. I wonder where those who worship themselves will place their hope when they are completely broken, sick or helpless. Many fall for the delusion that we are worthy of worship. I pray the Lord Jesus will bring each of these self worshipers to repentance before it's too late for them. After all, they were created in His image, whether they want to acknowledge it or not. Lord show your sovereignty in this situation.
