The original prison is overcrowded being opened I902, to house 103 prisoners, now houses at least 117, with many on remand but some serving life. Each prisoner costs the average taxpayer £30,000 per annum and has rights so the present situation is unacceptable in accord with the SPS rules and regulations.

The minimum visiting rights to each prisoner is two half hour per week visits with those on remand qualifying for more, but should each prisoner have the minimum that equates to 234 30 minute visits per week, between the hours of 15.00 hrs until 19.00 hrs weekdays and 14.00 hrs until 15.30 at the weekend. Unless transport links were significantly improved the demographic of the population visiting prisoners would have to claim for increased visiting expenses.

The controversy over housing prices compared to the crown area cannot be ignored as invariably the house price in Milton of leys would decrease, the properties near porter field are unique, period and not mass produced as are those in Milton of leys, and serviced by many local amenities such as a doctors, vetinary, specialist local shops, a deli, hairdressers, restaraunts and public houses, which Milton of leys already sadly lacks most off.

It would make common sense to house the new prison in the longman, historical and economic, with reasonable transport links and if the proposed new court building is housed there then less transport costs.

alas this is Inverness, the court housed in the castle, the town planners on acid since the 60s, and park where you like on Sunday if you believe in God ......
