This action taken by the Russian government is a clear demonstration of the stupidity of the ruling classes, not just in Russia but throughout the world. I say this because if the international community had any sense they would speak out against this, but obviously they are too busy siphoning off taxpayers money rather than upholding our human rights, such as the freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Seeing as Russia is signatory to both the Universal Deceleration of Human Rights and the European Convention on Human Rights, shouldn't the government be protecting the rights of their citizens to practice whichever religion they choose. If they are able to give instances within the Bhaghavad gita or the practitioners of religion are inciting hatred then the government have the right and the duty to expose this, however if they are not the government should not waste their time causing needless aggravation and dividing society. There are plenty of people in Russia living in poverty, why don't the government do something to sort this out first ! With regards to the international community, I believe countries like the USA and UK would be the first to pipe up if it were a 3rd world islamic nation who was taking this course of action, however due to Russia's strategic political position as one of  the permanent members of the UN security council and NATO, etc the international community have been somewhat slow if not silent on this clear violation of all international human rights codes.
