*Subject:* _Petition for Review and Investigation of Wrongful Prosecution in the Senzo Meyiwa Murder Case_

Dear Shamila Batohi,

We, the undersigned concerned citizens and advocates for justice, hereby submit this petition to bring to your attention a grave miscarriage of justice in the case of Senzo Meyiwa CAS 636/10/2014 and CAS 375/01/2019. We believe that the current prosecution (CAS 636/10/2014) of five individuals accused of murder is fundamentally flawed, and we urge you to initiate a comprehensive review and investigation into the matter.

The circumstances surrounding the Murder of Senzo Meyiwa are deeply troubling. It has come to our attention that the accused individuals are being wrongfully prosecuted for a murder that involved alleged contract killing, while the true mastermind behind the crime remains at large. We have reason to believe that corruption and the protection of influential individuals have hindered the arrest and prosecution of the real culprits.

Furthermore, the evidence presented against the accused is riddled with inconsistencies, shoddy investigative work, and deliberate attempts to frame them. There are alarming reports of the police falsifying records and manipulating scientific and DNA evidence to support their flawed narrative. In addition, it is deeply concerning that crucial eyewitness accounts, which provide direct testimony of individuals present during the commission of the murder, have been disallowed or ignored.

We emphasise that a fair and impartial criminal justice system is the cornerstone of any democratic society. It is essential to ensure that investigations are conducted diligently, evidence is handled with utmost integrity, and the rights of the accused are protected throughout the legal process. The egregious violations that have occurred in this Case not only undermine the principles of justice but also erode public trust in the legal system.

In light of the above, we urge you to take immediate action by:

1. Instituting an independent and thorough review of the entire case, including the conduct of the investigating officers, the handling of evidence, and the adherence to legal protocols and procedures.
2. Identifying and addressing any instances of corruption or undue influence that may have obstructed the arrest and prosecution of the true mastermind behind the murder.
3. Reevaluating the credibility of the evidence presented against the accused, with particular attention to the authenticity and reliability of scientific, DNA, and eyewitness testimony.
4. Ensuring that the rights of the accused are fully protected, providing them with a fair and transparent trial, and taking into account any new evidence that may exonerate them.
5. Holding accountable those responsible for any misconduct, tampering with evidence, or obstruction of justice discovered during the review process.
6. Issuing a public statement affirming your commitment to upholding the principles of justice, fairness, and transparency, and outlining the steps being taken to address the concerns raised in this petition.

We believe that only through a thorough review and investigation can justice be served in the Senzo Meyiwa Murder Case. By addressing the systemic failures and bringing the true perpetrators to justice, you will not only rectify the injustice suffered by the accused but also restore public confidence in the integrity of the criminal justice system.

We respectfully request your prompt attention and action in this matter. We trust that you will uphold the principles of justice and work tirelessly to ensure that the truth prevails.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Concerned citizens
