Deputy was responsible for the detention. I'm not speaking against Nassar but for whatever reason his detention was extended and he panicked. Are we saying that any person suffering with asthma should never be kept in detention? Should they never be fired from a job? Should they never receive any bad news? Most of us here have been to school. Did every single teacher in that school know who you are or know about your medical history and condition if you had one?

your comments are fine on the surface of things.when you hold a place of power and responsibility you have to make sure punishment is proportionate to the offence committed.

making an asthmatic boy do double detention in a basement is abusing your position and power.

Yes actually, ALL teachers should know the conditions of the children they teach. It is part of the law for you to know about the child as teachers have a duty to care for their students.

This is not about not giving a child with medical problems detention, but teachers should be there to supervise if they aren't then they are not doing their job properly. Justice needs to be served!!!

I understand what you are saying. But as a student nurse I know for a fact that any student that has a care plan, which Nasar did, is made familiar to all staff. Staff are regularly trained about the medication they can administer and the triggers of the students condition. All teachers should have access to the care plan easily and its usually situated in the staff room. It's obvious in this case that the teacher disregarded the care plan or the school is very poor at communicating the care plans between teachers.
