But they fought not for Germany but again bloody soviet regime. One year before Germans, Latvia was occupied by Soviets and it was enough to fully experience soviet terror. Almost all of these boys as most Latvians lost relatives or friends in this year - called Horrible Year in Latvia. So they fought against Russia in German troops in hope to defeat Nazis afterwards with help of US or UK. |
