Hold Elected Officials Accountable

I have written the following letter and send it to all of my elected officials. A number of people have asked for a way to add their signatures to it. Please add yours and it will be sent to Senators, Representatives and the President of the United States so that our voices may be heard. The letter is below:

 

To all duly elected officials,
 
As a citizen of the United States of America and a member of what has been called the "Silent Majority", I write this so that my voice is no longer silent. I declare that I know all men are created equal, regardless of race, creed, religion, gender or affiliation. This equality is evident nowhere more than in this great country. Everyone has equal opportunities to succeed or fail. I believe this equality should extend to equality in accountability. Too much of the media lately has vilified law enforcement as a whole for the unlawful acts of the few. There has been a cry for more accountability for law enforcement which I agree with to root out problems. What I want to see is more accountability of our elected officials.
 
You were elected to represent me and my family in our government. As part of that duty, you swore an oath to uphold and defend the constitution. The constitution that starts with "We the people of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity..." You were elected by "We the people". We expect your service to be one of honor and diligence for our welfare.
 
The riots and looting that has been occurring has brought to light a startling reality. Many of our elected officials are failing to fulfill their oath to the people and the constitution. They would rather cower to a small group of domestic terrorists than fulfill their duty to the rest of their constituents. Many are failing to take decisive action to stop violence and destruction. I believe and support the First Amendment right to protest, but that right does not grant the ability to commit crimes in the name of protest. Included in the First Amendment is the right to gather and worship. This right has been taken away from many in the name of "social distancing", but is granted to others who are literally tearing our country apart and they are applauded for it. As a citizen I declare; This needs to stop! These rights apply equally to all!
 
Because of all the unrest and chaos that is currently occurring and feeling that my voice is not heard, I am making the following declaration. I will no longer stand idly by and watch my country be destroyed by those who want the constitution, the framers of this nation, and our inalienable rights granted by Almighty God to be torn down and forgotten. I am paying attention to which of the elected officials are giving in to these anarchists and failing to protect the rest of the law-abiding Americans. If an elected official fails in their office, I will do my civic duty to ensure they are not re-elected by campaigning for those who do stand for freedom, liberty and justice for ALL! I will defend myself, my family, and my community against violence and destruction if my elected officials fail to do so. I will then ensure they are held accountable for failing to act if they are more interested in making a political statement than taking action to secure our freedoms.
 
In closing I reaffirm that "All men (including our elected officials) are created equal". That I will no longer be silent while the country I love is torn to shreds by those who actively want socialism and communism, the enemies of freedom. I am paying attention to what you do and what actions you do or do not take. I expect your work to be that of continuing to secure and defend my freedoms. I pray you make the right choices for freedom. If you are one of the just standing for our rights and our freedoms; I stand by you and will support and defend you with all my might.
