JUSTICE for Burmeister's sake!
PHOT0: Burmie and his Iron Lady
Knysna police officers (during Johann Burmeister's trial) admitted under oath in court to lying and disregarding police standing orders (national as well as station standing orders) and whose falsehoods ultimately led to Burmeister's dismissal. Why have they not also been charged and punished?
Johann Burmeister was acquitted on Thursday, July 24, after the State could not find any evidence that he had not returned a stolen laptop to police storage. He has still not been reinstated in his former position at the Knysna Police Station. Neither has he heard anything regarding his appeal contesting the SAPS departmental hearing's outcome where he was found guilty of theft(?) - a decision that ended his 32-year career in the police service. Yet SAPS were still able to find him guilty (prior) at an internal hearing with an immediate dismissal where he lost his job, his salary, pension, medical aid, his pride, his belief in justice and his Dad who suffered a stroke during the courtcase and died in his son's arms 2 days after he was acquitted.
We want action taken against these Knysna police officials, who admitted under oath to have committed fraud and who acted in a deceitful manner, disregarding standing orders, to be brought to justice and charged accordingly.
