Keep VKK321/322 exam dates the same!

This is a petition requesting that the preliminary exam dates for VKK 321 and VKK 322 do not shift and remain as proposed for the 20th and 24th of November, 2015. It is in the interest of the lecturers and students that the dates remain as planned and not be moved on as is with other exams. The following indicate reasons for not moving the exam dates:

1. BA(Information Design) students must complete an internship as part of course requirements. Internships have already been booked by students for after the exams and changing the dates may require cancellation of internships. A number of students are working internationally in the holidays and liaising with foreign companies is even more difficult.

2. Preliminary exam dates were already late in the exam schedule. Around mid-November 2014, exams for VKK students had already finished. It will not be an inconvenience to keep the exam dates the same as planned, as students have ample studying time and were aware of the proposed dates.

3. Numerous flights have been booked by students for after the exams. If the exam dates shift, it will result in a huge financial loss for those who have paid for flights.

4. VKK 321's current module is conducted online. Students are able to access all readings and materials through ClickUp, including submission of assignments. For this reason, the excuse of having missed class for the week of protests may be considered invalid.

It was promised by the University of Pretoria that no student would be inconvenienced by what has happened during the protests. It is the belief of those who have signed below, that numerous students who have booked internships and flights, are indeed inconvenienced financially and put under pressure in terms of organising holiday work.

Please sign this petition to indicate that you agree to the above statements and that you would like the exam dates to rem in on the 20th and 24th of November, 2015.
