Noordhoek Garden Emporium Equestrian Padel Court Petition
Hi everyone
I am not sure if you are aware but the Noordhoek Garden Emporium are planning to build outdoor padel courts, which sounds amazing as an activity, but could have a negative impact on our riding.
Currently the property is not zoned to be able to build the courts, but the plan is for the owner to apply for new zoning. Having spoken with various other suburbs that have outdoor padel courts we have found that the noise factor from these courts is horrendous, and I for one have a rather spooky horse, so any additional noisy outbursts I try to avoid at the best of times.
Besides the noise, which will start early morning and end only late in the evening, and will be very audible from the road riding past the Emporium, the courts will also attract a large amount of increased traffic to the area, making it even trickier for those of us that have to ride past this area.
The equestrian community in Noordhoek currently generates over R45million in revenue and creates many hundreds of jobs in the area. Please we need your support to ensure that these outdoor courts are not allowed – that we are able to keep Noordhoek, Noordhoek and that our riding remains safe.
First prize win win sitatuation would be for the padel courts to be indoor courts, especially seeing as less than 1km down the road at Long Beach Mall there will also be outdoor padel courts. Second prize would be for the owner to put up major sound barriers to ensure that the noise does not affect the horse, but with both of these options the traffic will remain a problem. Lately many of us riders have experienced horrendous situations with cars having little to no care for ours or the horses safety whilst on the road, and this is from Noordhoek residents, we can only imagine how much worse this will be when we have people from out of the area who have no horse experience visiting.
Please can I ask that you put your name and surname as well as contact number down below to help us ensure that our riding areas remains safe and horse friendly.
