A choice for online/offline examinations for students in B. Tech. 4th-year

Decision Maker (dedicated to)

| COE & Dean-Office |

To,
The Respected Authority,
The NorthCap University - NCU (previously ITM),
Gurugram, Haryana,
Sector 23-A

We wish to bring to your kind notice - our request, that is to kindly make it a choice, an option; for the students of the final year to appear for the examinations.

  1. Problem: The first problem that arises is proper parental consent. We cannot attend the college exams if our parents don't allow us to. Even as per the government - the universities or schools should consider the comfortability of the students appearing in the exam - it doesn't seem fair to make it compulsory when there is still a risk. Solution: Students who wish to appear for the examination at college (offline) - can get a consent letter signed by the parents.
  2. Problem: Seeing that the coronavirus is still prevalent, all the precautions should be taken. Gathering in a public place should be avoided. Also, a notice had been issued that attending the college for classes (offline) would be left for the students to decide - they could still give attend the classes online. Solution: The same should be applied in terms of giving an examination offline i.e., students presented with a choice.
  3. Problem: In the official notice recently, there was a paragraph which stated that "A large number of students have started attending regular classes in the Campus." Even if some students (mostly below 3rd year) have started going to the college and don't care for their safety, it can't be applicable to us, as these students can't act on our behalf as well. Solution: This shouldn't be generalized and individual class opinions should be considered. Hence, it shouldn't be labelled as 'compulsory' for us.
  4. Problem: Talking about the students attending offline classes - no one has attended the offline classes because there is still a risk of coming to the college even without properly getting vaccinated first. Solution: Considering that each and every one of us attended online classes - it'd be only FAIR to take these examinations online as well.
  5. Problem: Commuting to the college during these times - some students who are staying outside Gurugram, have to come back to their respective PGs and hostels as well. Students travelling using government transport i.e. daily up-and-down are posed with an even greater threat and hence will face more problems. Solution: There are still some government guidelines to maintain social distancing, wear masks and adopt proper sanitization norms. It'd be better to take these examinations online.
  6. To not put the students at risk - the university should be keeping these things in mind themselves and to present the students with a choice instead.

To conclude this: keeping all the above points in mind - we request you to kindly present the students with an option to:

<> attend the college to give exams - with a consent letter signed, or,
<> give the exams online - with proper guidelines followed.

We are still under the danger of coronavirus.
The pandemic still isn't over yet.

Yours Sincerely,
Final Year Students
2021 Batch
