Petition for the new dismissal times

Good day parents. Kindly sign the petition to reject the extended dismissal times that have been unfairly imposed on our children.

1.The dismissal times are prolonged especially for grade 1 and Their dismissal times are 1 and a half hour later per week.  The children will.be in school for an overly long period if time. Some parents have kids in grade R as well and now it had become a financial.burden as the parents are now forced to make return trips for their grade 1 and 2.

2.There is only 1 lunch break allocated for the entire day

3. Traffic is a mayhem. On a Wednesday grade 3 to 7 finish at 14.30 and the high school finishes at 14.25pm.

4. Some transport providers are finding the new times challenging. It clashes with the dismissal times of the grade 1 and 2 with the bigger grades. . By the time the first load (grade 1 and 2) have been dropped off and they return for the other grades, the other grades are already dismissed. While the bigger grades await their transport. They are left unattended and this results in outer children being exposed to a high risk of danger. E.g they could get lost or hurt, they could get into a motor vehicle accident,  they could get into a wrong vehicle and even fall prey to kidnappers. Many of our parents are working and it's stressful.not knowing if your child is safe or picked up timeously. When kids are not picked up on time..this can lead to fear and anxiety which can be detrimental to their young minds.

Some transport providers had to cancel their loads because they could not incorporate the odd dismissal times hence some of our parents are left in a predicament  of finding new transport providers and there are not many willing to do Sunford Primary loads.

5. Some parents were picking up their kids during their lunch break and are now unable to do so. They are now compelled to find alternate transport provided and they are now burdened with an extra cost

We were not given adequate notice, therefore with regards to having our child transfered to another school,  many parents have paid the full school fee, many paid the re admission fee and most importantly admissions have closed at other schools.

Although we value and appreciate the intervention programme, we can not ignore the well being and safety of our kids. This is a priority the school.needs to consider. They will be physically, emotionally  and mentally drained

We do welcome the intervention programme and we want to empower our kids, therefore we suggest that the class periods should be reduced to 55 minutes per period on certain days and also consider  deducting 5min from the reading time,(7.30am to 8.00am) to accomodate the new programme. If this is not possible,  give the parents a choice to vote.
