This past March 7 2023, Trustee Nili Kaplan-Myrth silenced a concerned father who was using respectful language to voice some concern regarding the OCDSB policy allowing any individual who chooses to identify as female to share bathroom and change room spaces with his 12 year old daughter.

She promptly muted his microphone without warning and ended his delegation 1 minute into his 4 minute allotted time. She proceeded to say that the statement was "creating an unsafe environment for people who identify as gender diverse." (See video below)

In a statement to the Ottawa Citizen the following day, Kaplan-Myrth commented that "There is no way to frame it other than transphobia".

Not only has this action on her part generated a tremendous amount of anger in the community towards the school board, it opens up the school board to being liable for slander and defamation because her comments were inaccurate and out of line.

Her need for control of a narrative is clearly demonstrated in her behavior and aggressive outburst during a brief interview with CFRA’s The Morning Rush host Bill Carroll in  the link below.

Judge for yourself, do you see a pattern?

Is this how a parent peacefully and respectfully expressing a legitimate concern should be treated by an elected official of a publicly funded institution?

This Trustee is clearly out of control and has transformed her position as an elected school board trustee into a liability to the school board, and is inevitably creating unrest in the community.

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE and is CLEARLY A WARNING SIGN THAT MUST BE ADDRESSED.

By arbitrarily taking away this parents right to express his concerns  Nili Kaplan-Myrth is threatening the integrity and severely undermining  the entire schoolboard’s reputation including other board member’s reputations that may not share her views or approach and can only serve to generate more hate and division in our community.

Parents and students of the Ottawa School District are having there voices and right to free speech taken away by this individual thus affecting there ability to affect meaningful change and participate in important relevant discourse for the benefit of everyone.

Parents, students and the reputation of the Ottawa Carleton School Board will be negatively impacted if Nili Kaplan-Myrth remains an OCDSB Trustee

It is imperative that we act NOW to prevent further erosion of this institution.

The reputation and judgement of Ottawa Carleton District school Board is clearly and demonstrably being tarnished by one specific member of the school board of trustees, the trustee is Nili Kaplan-Myrth.

The amount of anger across the community and on social media is evident, and her actions are paramount to nothing less than proof of her inability to perform her duties without her own personal radical and close minded views intercepting her judgment.

SHE MUST BE RELEIVED OF HER POSITION AS AN Ottawa Carleton District School Board Trustee IMMEDIATELY
