Petition to Stop Construction of the Tompkins Bridge

Petitition Summary and Background:

The Members of Paddle Prairie Metis Settlement were never consulted as it has been said in numerous media coverage. The people have a voice and are forced to use it in a petition in a plea to be heard. The Ferry is a historic part of the area. A bridge will have great impact on the Metis's Sacred, traditional land use. We need to protect our historical and traditional places. The Metis have traditionally harvested and fished along the Peace River for decades.

Action petitioned to STOP construction of the Tompkins Landing Bridge. We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens of the Paddle Prairie Metis Settlement and surrounding area, who urge our Paddle Prairie Metis Settlement Leaders as well as the Government of Canada to act now to stop the construction of the bridge.
