Plea from locals to make Cromer safe for pedestrians & residents!!

Please sign to support us in informing the Northern Beaches Council what a serious issue the lack of pedestrian saftey is in Cromer.

The area in South Creek Rd & Fisher Rd North Cromer has been a dangerous area for pedestrians & motorists for many years. With new developments continually being approved, the area is bustling with people, and yet no additional safety or traffic controls have ever been implemented as part of the redevelopments.

Over the years, local businesses and parents have contacted the council many times to address this issue, but to no avail.

Sadly today, a woman was struck by a car on South Creek Rd & was seriously injured.

The residents of Cromer & Cromer Heights, not to mention the many visitors who visit our local facilities need to cross this busy road which has many blind spots, and most recently is 'home' to an incredible number of boats, trucks, caravans, trailers, etc that are dumped in the area for months at a time- restricting the view of motorists for pedestrians and vice versa.

NBSC Cromer Campus is the local allocated school for the kids in the area of Cromer & Cromer Heights- they have nowhere to safely cross this road when walking to and from school.

St Matthews Farm- a very busy oval for many sports games & training is located right at this junction, and Cromer Skate Park is part of the area.

There is a childcare centre across the street.

A busy service station is on the opposite corner, as is a bus stop where school kids get off the bus each day & walk to after school activities.

Cromer Park is on the other side and also attracts hundreds of people weekly during soccer season for training & games.

Local cafés are located here that cater for sporting families on busy weekends.

There are several dance schools & gyms in the area- all catering to local children.

A busy chemist & post office also located at this busy area.

But nowhere safe to cross the road!!!

We urgently need ...

A crossing- not a safety island in the middle of the road. This is misunderstood by SO many pedestrians (usually kids) and motorists. Please make it a crossing- we also need one near the chemist & post office where this tragedy took place today, and one down near Dee Why Gardens Retirement Village on Fisher Rd North.

A roundabout where South Creek Rd meets Fisher Rd North. We need a flat roundabout so the trucks that access this industrical area can drive over if necessary.

8 hour parking all the way along South Creek Rd to stop the dumping of trailers, boats & caravans, but to allow for the workers of Cromer to be able to park for the duration of their work day. The busy Cromer industrial area have now been having ongoing issues with the dumping of large vehicles for a long time- so the 8 hour parking would need to be throughout this entire area, or otherwise the problem will just move up to the next road closer to NBSC Cromer Campus & Cromer Park and new issues will begin.

The residents of Cromer deserve to be safe. Our kids need to be safe getting to school & activities. The accident that occured to day is one too many.
