Safer pedestrian zone in front of Childwall Valley School

Parents, Carers and Friends of Childwall Valley Primary School

We seek your support to petition Liverpool City Council to make Craighurst Road, in front of the School, a safer pedestrian zone for our children and parents dropping off and collecting pupils.  In an attempt to enforce the ‘No Parking Zone’ clearly marked outside the school, Traffic Wardens and Mobile Enforcement Cameras have been used, these only deter illegally parked cars on the pavement on the day they are present.  Other measures have been proposed e.g. CCTV too expensive to install and maintain, markings on the pavement which the council would not sanction.

We believe the only option is to install concrete bollards on the pavement on the school side of the road to prevent cars parking on the side walk.  If you support this proposal, designed to prevent an accident waiting to happen, as pupils and pedestrians dodge in an out of parked cars and the cars themselves leaving, create a hazard which will only get worse with the onset of winter and darkness.

Thanking you in advance for your support before it is too late and a child (or other pedistrian) gets run over and fatally injured.
