My 9 yr old son had already endured in excess of 2,500 finger-prick tests - currently buying this privately at a cost of 120 euro per month - it has had a huge positive impact on his life - PLEASE ensure that this continues by making it available on LT illness scheme

(Drogheda, 2016-12-04)

#496

I'm signing because my daughter and myself are both type 1 diabetic it's hard for an adult to test their bloods as often as we have to let alone a child. Their little fingers get so damaged so I think this is vitial for them to have it available to them. Parent maybe able to afford this device for awhile but long term maybe not. So if this can't be available on medical cards/ lti books then maybe something could be done for a long term cost .

(Cork, 2016-12-04)

#501

Every child should be issued with these... I can't imagine what it's it's to stick up to 29/30 needles a day into myself when young kids really shouldn't have too!!

(Cork, 2016-12-04)

#539

As a pharmacy technician I've seen first hand the difference this product could make to the diabetic community, with the paediatric population in particular. The safety, effectiveness and ease of use are revolutionary in the treatment and management of diabetes. In the long run, there is undoubtedly a cost saving aspect to this product compared with the increasing quantity of glucose testing strips being dispensed. The list of benefits to approving this product for cover under community schemes is endless.

(Waterford, 2016-12-04)

#546

It is grossly unfair that the haves suffer less than the have nots over something that should be readily available. Diabetes is a huge problem. It costs the government money. As a taxpayer I feel it is in their interests to spend less money paying for this than they ultimately spend treating it. Our system is broken. About 70% of illness in this country is caused because our governement refuses to pay for prevention. Here is an opportunity that costs less than your water charges fiasco, or your electronic voting machines, or your millenium countdown clock in the liffey. Or event he amount of money you spend trying to convince people we are a neutral country while you allow war planes to land at Shannon. Just saying! Do the right thing!
