This is a wonderful program and it has changed my life for the better. I can not find one reason to cut this program it is truly amazing.

#402

Someone told me too and I feel everyone should be able to know what it feels like to help somebody and make a difference.

(Charlotte, 2017-01-07)

#406

Randolph Middle will stay as my middle school for the rest of time. Everybody deserves an opportunity especially at such wonderful school like Randolph.

(Charlotte , 2017-01-07)

#409

I'm signing because special education in a public school system is such an amazing opportunity for students with and without special needs.

(Charlotte, 2017-01-07)

#411

Thus program deserves to stay

(Charlotte , 2017-01-07)

#415

I want to be able to keep the program at RMS and make sure it stays there!

(Charlotte, 2017-01-07)

#416

they should keep these classes and it's not right to take them away

(charlotte, 2017-01-07)

#417

The SAC program at Randolph has changed my life because I was able to learn from the kids in the program. I love them all so much and I think the program has the potential to change other lives. Randolph wouldn't be the same without SAC and can't stand to see it go. Please keep the SAC program at Randolph.

(Charlotte , 2017-01-07)

#418

Randolph needs to keep it because it would further the lives of kids with special needs and make the typical kids be more open towards kids with special needs

(Charlotte, 2017-01-07)

#420

This is clearly a decision being made by people who do not have interaction with students, teachers or families. There are separate SAC and AU classrooms for a reason, as each environment provides the best structure and behavioral techniques needed for students to get the basic education they deserve. Combining or eliminating these programs is certainly a giant move backwards from all we have learned and gained in special education.

(Indian Land, 2017-01-07)

#426

I'm signing because I went to Randolph, and SAC is a very important part of it. Randolph is meant to be a diverse school not just in race but in people and this cuts down on how accepting Randolph really is. You can't take away SAC.

(Charlotte , 2017-01-07)

#428

Ben was my buddy last year and is such a sweet guy!! The program is incredible and an experience others can experience!

(Charlotte , 2017-01-07)

#429

I am a high school student who previously attended Randolph and I think this is truly ridiculous. I am very disappointed with even the thought of this happening. The SAC program is one of the main things that make Randolph the diverse and accepting school that it prides itself on.

(Charlotte, 2017-01-07)

#430

I was involved with the program when I was in middle school and I'd hate to see it go away.

(Charlotte , 2017-01-07)

#432

CMS needs to do what's best for children, not for the budget!

(Charlotte, 2017-01-07)

#439

As a former student, I think that the SAC program was great and friendship were formed with other students. This program is wonderful and is in a great school.

(Charlotte, 2017-01-07)

#440

I'm signing because I worked with the SAC kids during gym.

(Charlotte , 2017-01-07)

#441

I'm signing because I use to attend Randolph Middle, and was apart of the buddy program with the SAC kids. It's really hard to believe that Randolph is even considering to drop the SAC program.. honestly just helping them and getting to know the SAC kids brightened up my experience at Randolph. It made me become a better person by actually getting to know and laugh with them. They were normal kids just like us, so I don't see why they would even think of getting rid of the program.. I hope they come to their senses soon and realize that was a great addition to the school!

(Charlotte , 2017-01-07)

#442

I'm signing because I am a student at Randolph Middle School that works with the Special Needs Children there and I don't think taking them from an environment that they thrive in, is right. No matter the reason.

(Charlotte , 2017-01-07)

#444

i am signing because the sac program was an amazing experience. i learned a lot from going to their class and just simply drawing with them. it's really sad that they want to take this program out because i think it changed a lot people's perspective. The kids are wonderful and amazing and bring a smile to everyone they talk to.

(Charlotte, 2017-01-07)

#445

I want to see special ed kids be able to go where they want and where their parents want them to go

(Charlotte, 2017-01-07)

#446

This is a program needed at ALL schools. The fact that CMS is considering taking this away is outrageous. Everybody has the right to an education in this country and they want to take it away because this child is different, and that is point blank wrong.

(Waxhaw, 2017-01-07)

#451

I believe this program is good for many people and for many reasons.

(Charlotte , 2017-01-07)

#455

Diversity in the classroom extends beyond race and income status. CMS has made extraordinary effort to provide good schools for lower income students and minorities, and it is time that SAC is given such treatment.

(Charlotte, 2017-01-07)

#456

I'm signing because everyone should have a right to education.

(Charlotte , 2017-01-07)

#458

I love the SAC kids at RMS ;)

(Charlotte, 2017-01-07)

#459

This is important

(Matthews , 2017-01-07)

#460

Special education is important!!!

(Waxhaw, 2017-01-07)

#467

This is a good cause and it makes me so happy to see someone making a change this is amazing

(Charlotte, 2017-01-07)

#474

I'm signing because I believe that kids with special needs deserve a chance to be happy and be cared for.

(Waxhaw, 2017-01-07)

#479

I want to keep SAC program in the school because it help the children so much

(Charlotte, 2017-01-07)

#480

I am signing because education is a right not a privilege

(Waxhaw, 2017-01-07)

#488

I'm signing because I think that everyone should get an equal amount of educations and should not be taken away from.

(Charlotte, 2017-01-07)

#489

My little brother also has special needs and I am involved in a special needs class at my school. Everyone is equal and should be given the same chance as anybody else. Everybody deserves a proper education.

(Charlotte, 2017-01-07)

#495

I'm signing because my brother has autism. When I read this post I immediately went to this site to petition against stopping the special education classes. My brother goes elementary school and he's doing awesome! I believe that taking something away from this is taking away the chance for a disabled child's future to blossom. It all starts at school. Do not take away the special classes for the special needs for the sake of the disabled child and his or her parents.

(Waxhaw, 2017-01-08)

#502

I'm signing because this program made an incredible difference for my cousin who attended or Randolph just last year.

(Atlanta, 2017-01-08)

#505

Because this program is really important, and it needs to exist at Randolph

(Charlotte, 2017-01-08)

#506

I'm signing because I support keeping families together in the same school when possible, and because of the benefits for a school when the population is diverse in all ways.

(Charlotte, 2017-01-08)

#509

Every child deserves an education and to be treated with respect, dignity, and inclusiveness.

(Charlotte , 2017-01-08)

#510

I love working with this group of kids and playing soccer with them every month and I would hate to see it disappear because it promotes so much acceptance in the other students at Randolph.

(Charlotte, 2017-01-08)

#511

This is important

(Bellingham, 2017-01-08)

#518

I'm signing because the sac program helps kids with special needs feel like they belong and forget about being different. It's a great program

(Charlotte, 2017-01-08)

#520

I stand in support of these parents and children who are being served by this program. Let's find alternatives to keep the success going!

(Charlotte, 2017-01-09)

#529

i want to keep education for kids with special needs going so they can potentially be the same as everyone else

(Charlotte, NC, 2017-01-09)

#530

Kids with Disabilities should be able too attend at every school

(Charlotte, 2017-01-09)

#545

the students in the SAC program enrich the experience for all of the IB students. All three of my children are saddened that the SAC program might be leaving.

(Matthews, 2017-01-10)

#547

It Is hard enough for any child to move from their school but particularly for one who may have autism or any other type of learning disability. Adjustments are very difficult for them and not to be taken lightly.

(Charlotte, 2017-01-10)

#549

I believe in this program at Randolph!

(Charlotte , 2017-01-10)

#552

The need for SAC program at Randolph.

(Charlotte, 2017-01-10)

#554

The families involved should have choices for their kid's education

(Mint Hill, 2017-01-10)

#557

I have 2 Randolph students. My older student is a peer buddy to a SAC student, which has been one of the most meaningful relationships she has developed as a CMS student. At Randolph, SAC kids are seen as kids first. Having special needs is something about them, but it does not define them. Having all Randolph students, including SAC students, see this first hand is invaluable. Please keep this uniquely successful program in place.

(Charlotte, 2017-01-10)

#558

Special Education programs should be available in all schools.

(Charlotte, 2017-01-10)

#564

I am a parent at Randolph Middle School. The SAC Program at Randolph is not only an amazing program for the Special Academic students but for the entire population of Randolph. We have/had two IB students at Randolph and one of the greatest honors and life lessons they have received at Randolph is being a PE and Health buddy/peer to a SAC students.
Randolph staff and faculty does an amazing job of breaking down barriers and bring together students for ALL different walks of life to teach team work, compassion, leadership, community and empathy to the total student body. Why should that be taken away from ANY student at Randolph.
Please don't let the school board ruin a program that is in place and working for the SAC students and a gift to the whole Randolph community.
Please let us know what we can do to help! We are in your corner!

(Charlotte, 2017-01-10)

#568

No child should go without an education. Phasing these programs out and require students with special needs to leave their communities where they have roots and feel safe just to save a dollar is disheartening. There is money out there to continue with these programs; go look for it!

(Gastonia, 2017-01-10)

#571

The SAC program helped me make amazing friendships and made me a better person

(Charlotte, 2017-01-10)

#572

This is important to me

(Charlotte , 2017-01-10)

#576

I have a special needs grandson & he deserves an education

(Charlotte, 2017-01-10)

#580

Special education is extremely important. My cousin is a special ed teacher. I believe in the process.

(Charlotte, 2017-01-10)

#581

These are our most special students. They rely on continuity, routine & familiarity. Taking them out of the environment they've ready adapted to (yes, I mean even the elementary students who are zoned to attend the program in this community), would show that CMS really doesn't know anything about how our special needs students function & thrive. Change your point of view. It's about what's best for our students. Nothing else matter as much.

(Charlotte, 2017-01-10)

#583

Everyone deserves an equal education!

(Charlotte , 2017-01-10)

#586

Special Education is always an important program and should be made available.

(Belmont, 2017-01-10)

#589

It's the right thing to do.

(Charlotte , 2017-01-10)

#590

I work in the special needs field

(Charlotte, 2017-01-10)

#596

I believe that inclusion is essential for all! Please allow the SAC program to continue!

(Charlotte, 2017-01-11)

#598

As a former EC teacher in Charlotte, I have seen the benefits of educating typical and special needs children in the same setting.

(Matthews, 2017-01-11)

#599

My daughter is in the SAC class at RMS. since she's been there, she has gained independence, confidence and social/academic skills. Without this program, she would have been overwhelmed and lost in the shuffle of middle school.
