Philosophy, be it in any university across the world is a focal point of understanding the human knowledge and metaphysics. Not only does it help in improving critical thinking skills among the students, but also provides them with knowledge of logic that can greatly help improve critical thinking. I am supporting this cause as an ardent reader of Philosophy and also as a friend of a student of this very university who's involved in active protests and stuggles to bring justice back to the University.

Philosophy among other fields in the humanities is crucial to a free and critically thinking democratic society. The benefits of having this kind of institutions, such as a department for analytic philosophy, should not be based on considerations regarding the next 5-10 years but on thoughts about the development of society and science within next 50 years. Zagreb can choose now to have the full range of academic disciplines or to loose some - and thereby also not take part in many societal or scientific discussions within the next 50 years.
