Cities need greenspaces and this land is well used by the public and an important part of the community.

(Gibsons, 2017-10-23)

#408

Im signing because this forest is beautiful and needs to be saved. Our family spends time walking in it and was a shock to learn it was up for devlopment.

(Burnaby, 2017-10-23)

#422

We need green spaces and trees

(BURNABY, 2017-10-23)

#429

We go for walks all the time there and I've been doing it for 14 years.

(Burnaby , 2017-10-23)

#433

I'm behind this petition. Let's stop with the over-developing of this city and pushing nature out. Is there no limit?

(Burnaby, 2017-10-24)

#442

Burnaby is simply over developed. Save the trees everyone!

(New Westminster, 2017-10-24)

#450

no more building on nature

(vancouver, 2017-10-24)

#455

I care about green spaces and the need for conservation of urban forest

(New Westminster, 2017-10-24)

#463

I would like to see this wonderful area made into park land to preserve the beauty of the area and it's wildlife

(Burnaby , 2017-10-25)

#464

I walk here frequently & already suffer from the increased pollution. Fewer trees will worsen air quality.

(New Westminster, 2017-10-25)

#468

Protect the southern tip of South Slope. Our neighbourhood including the flora and fauna should remain intact. The proposed development destroys the integrity of the existing parkland.

(Burnaby6, 2017-10-26)

#469

We do not need housing in our natural parkland. Wilderness areas within the city are too precious and disappearing fast. Birds are especially threatened by the loss of habitat. Hold back on developing this area indefinitely.

(Burnaby, 2017-10-26)

#471

It's a rare place of old big trees and great trails.

(Burnaby, 2017-10-26)

#473

I think it is disgraceful to even think of turning this parcel of land into housing. It should be park land and remain connected to the adjacent park land. Shame on Burnaby for wanting to sell it for housing, which you can be sure will not be affordable for the many families who are needing housing. Burnaby is already bringing in much more money because of the huge increase in property assessments and hence taxes.. I do not believe that they need the money from this sale. If they are concerned about housing for current Burnaby residents, they should stop the demolition of older affordable apartments in Metrotown. It is about time that Burnaby started looking after its existing residents who care about green space. A city where families can afford to live and enjoy undeveloped spaces will continue to be a vibrant city. A city full of high rises and multi-housing units that do not meet the need of families will not be the Burnaby that we have loved and been proud to live in. We will never get back the forest land and the inventory of trees in Burnaby has already been greatly depleted in most neighbourhoods because older homes are torn down and replaced with huge houses. For the sake of the environment and the many people here who care, please take this land off the market and designate it as parkland.

(Burnaby, 2017-10-26)

#476

There is too much development, and not enough land for wildlife/birds. There is an enormous amount of wasted land in the Vancouver area... and too few people living on large pieces of land. Monster homes need to be stopped, they are immoral in these days. This small parcel of land is needed or development will further encroach on the park.
I have been recycling long before it became mandatory in BC. I am an environmentalist, and I believe we have a sacred duty to preserve the earth, air and water. In the past 150 years "we" have been doing a disastrous job of this. Time to start somewhere. This is a good place where we can make a difference for the creatures that call this home.

(Burnaby, 2017-10-26)

#486

We need to respect what makes BC so great. Stop cutting down our trees and annihilating the beautiful habitat of the creatures that live within, then complain the animals are in your backyard.

(New Westminster , 2017-10-26)

As a resident of south Burnaby and a frequent user of the parks and trails that run through Byrne Creek forest, it saddens me to see city of Burnaby selling this valuable piece of land.
Valuable because of the many varieties of trees, plants and wildlife that cal the forest home.
Displacing and destroying these animals and their habitat is irreplaceable.
What I love about our neighbourhood is the open, green space.
This should be enjoyed for generations to come.

(Burnaby , 2017-10-26)

#488

This housing development is inappropriate for the landscape. It will increase people, cars, street parking, all ambient noises and the cities money box. It will kill the existing treed environment, increase the potential for down road flooding, washouts and kill the Byrne Creek salmon run rebirth.

(Burnaby, 2017-10-26)

#489

I'm signing because I don't want to see any more development of our remaining green spaces, disruption of nature and the habitats of the local wildlife.

(Coquitlam, 2017-10-26)

#491

I am signing this petition because I would like to see a responsible approach to any projects put fourth for development. We have allowed our government to do as they please, as well as their biggest supporters, big developers. This is our country our cities our resources being squandered and disregarded and sold in private deals. This is me Bettie Dupuis saying enough!
Thank you

(Burnaby, 2017-10-26)

#493

What a shame to lose this gem in South Burnaby. It's full of people walking and enjoying the birds and trees. How short sighted of Burnaby, who declare themselves to be a green city.

(Burnaby, 2017-10-26)

#494

We are already in a very densely populated area where traffic congestion has become a problem particularly during rush hours. Furthermore fauna in this area need a place to live. Let's not further deteriorate their habitat

(Burnnaby, 2017-10-26)

#498

It's a big stupid thing to sell; let's combine them with Byrne Woods Park. Let's do something for people not only for money. I do not think the City is so low with the money and wants to destroy our forest. What say our City counselor?

(Burnaby, 2017-10-27)

#501

Keep irreplaceable forest protected parkland.

(Burnaby, 2017-10-27)

#502

Protect the environment and habitat.

(burnaby, 2017-10-27)

#503

I would like to see this land remain as a forest because presently it buffers the traffic noise and provides a habitat for wildlife.

(Burnaby, 2017-10-27)

#504

Our municipal government has sold out to the
developers!

(Burnaby, 2017-10-27)

#505

Habitat is home to many wildlife creatures which have already been displaced from other areas.

(Burnaby, 2017-10-27)

#506

The areas density has reached a level where there are no vehicle on street parking spaces left. Each multiple dwelling has their own onsite parking, however the onstreet spaces are always full.

(Burnaby, 2017-10-27)

#511

There is a need to protect habitat for the owls and keep some nature that is too quickly diminishing. We don't want to look like Vancouver with condos everywhere and loose our natural beauty.

(Burnaby, 2017-10-28)

#512

We need to protect our forests.

(Burnaby, 2017-10-28)

#514

We need our wildlife animals to have a home. We have already displaced them.so.much.

(Burnaby, 2017-10-28)

#516

Development in Burnaby is out of control, displacing the poor and ruining the liveability of a once wonderful city without having any noticeable differences on affordability. Please reconsider development of this important green space.

(Burnaby, 2017-10-28)

#520

i love byrne creek park and walk there daily. Love the fresh Clean air filtered by the trees.
Love the sounds of the birds, and other species.

Please save the forest against all cause.

(burnaby, 2017-10-29)

#528

The plan to sell this green parcel is right by owl habitat along with other wild life. There isn't enough green space in metro Vancouver as it is, please do not allow this parcel to be sold and condos to be built.

(Burnaby, 2017-10-30)

#529

It is already too dense in this area, full of high density housing. Keep this area green for a change! Besides, why divide up Byrne Creek Park?! This does not make sense.

(Burnaby, 2017-10-30)

#530

It is such a shame that this green space will be filled with housing. Keep it green please. The park is such a beautiful gem in the heart of a vibrant city. Keep it that way!

(Richmond, 2017-10-30)

#535

I lived in the are of Byrnepark for 5 years and have walked the trails many times. It would be a shame for it to be developed and loose that natural beauty and habitat.

(Port Coquitlam, 2017-10-30)

#541

The woodland area should be protected, it is the habitat for a number of birds and other animals and as such shouldn't be destroyed. As Canadians we should be trying to keep our environment safe for future generations

(Burnaby, 2017-10-30)

#542

I'm signing because the health of the environment, the wild life, as well as the local residents of the Byrnepark neighborhood should be valued more than short term profit for some housing development corporation as well as some politicians.

(Burnaby, 2017-10-30)

#547

I have lived and this area for the last 16 years. I value the green space we have in our neighborhood.

(Burnaby, 2017-10-30)

#548

I am signing here because I have been living near the woods for 2 years , and I loves the beautiful land. We need to protect our green town in place of selling for short profit.

(Burnaby, 2017-10-30)

#561

This beautiful park land area needs to be preserved and not marred with housing development. There is precious little space left as it is for the wild creatures that inhabit the Byrne Creek Ravine Park and its supporting woodland. Why anyone would want to encroach on the borders of Byrne Creek Ravine Park is beyond me. The City Of Burnaby is literally awash in cash as it is and such a sale for development is totally unncecesary.

(Burnaby, 2017-10-31)

#565

Further development of this area is absolutely un-necessary. Our nature is more important than any profits this development might bring.

(Burnaby, 2017-10-31)

#567

I grew up in South Burnaby

(Surrey bc , 2017-10-31)

#575

The parkland is important to the environment.

(Burnaby, 2017-10-31)

#576

I'm signing because I oppose further development within Byrnepark. It ought to be a reserved green space (and when I purchased my property at Byrnepark, that was my expectation).

In addition, greenspaces like Byrnepark need to be protect to preserve wildlife, forest growth within urban environments, and for purposes of carbon sinks.

Any future proposed developments, I would like to be informed of in writing.

(Burnaby, 2017-10-31)

#588

Too much green space is being destroyed...too much wildlife is displaced...

(Vancouver, 2017-11-01)

#589

Because it is a beautiful forest land so peaceful and calm for morning walks.

(Burnaby, 2017-11-01)

#591

I echo what others are saying, not because of NIMBY-ism but because development for humans should not always trump habitat needs for wildlife; because sprawling, ungroomed, natural parks are essential for humans in our increasingly densified urban environments; because, global warming; because, appropriate environmental assessment and consultation; and because communities shouldn’t always have to fight for their green spaces against for-profit developers - that’s what our elected officials should be doing for us.

(Burnaby, 2017-11-01)

#592

I'm signing because protecting the wildlife is important!

(burnaby, 2017-11-01)

#593

I enjoy this area and we need to protect our green space.

(Burnaby, 2017-11-01)

#600

I don't want to see more housing developments in this area, we need forest areas left to prevent erosion, to protect the habitat of animals & birds and for humans to escape the city!

(Burnaby, 2017-11-02)
