(CALVINIA , 2018-03-03)

#1213

Our profession needs to be recognised. I need employment and a better salary. We did not study four years just to warm coaches at home!!!

(Johannesburg, 2018-03-03)

#1217

I m signing this petition because I feel that as a professional I not regarded as such referring to my salary and on a professional level. Other professionals look down on me more especially that I am working at an NGO and financially I m drained I am emotionally, mentally and physically exhausted... I believe with a positive and healthy mindset a person can be productive in our case tht will take place when we are treated with respect and treated equally with all thts mentioned above.

(Brits, 2018-03-03)

#1220

The government doesn't recognise us since we are having qualifications

(polokwane, 2018-03-03)

#1221

Because we are paid less salaries its like we did not go to school the salary is degrading and we cant even afford to buy houses as get less money at the ngos

(Carletonville, 2018-03-03)

#1223

I have seen the struggle of unemployed Social Workers as I once came to first hand experience with it. I am now employed but as a professional I can barely meet my basic needs. I cannot afford to buy both a car and a house. I feel very under paid yet with so much work to do utilising limited resources.

(Pretoria, 2018-03-03)

#1228

Concerned about the status of the profession

(Polokwane, 2018-03-03)

(Benoni, 2018-03-03)

#1241

It's a desperate plea for help. I completed my degree in 2012 and eager to hit the ground running in making a difference in people's lives. Little did i know that I was about to experience the hardest 5 years of my life. Struggling to make ends meet, hopping from one job to the next because of contracts& clouded by instability. Our profession has been failed. Our community at large is being failed. We are the people to send to the masses. Properly equipt to empower& be agents of change. The time is now

I’m a social who works in harsh conditions I conduct home visits in extremely dangerous areas to save children’s lives. I make a different in children and families lives. I love my job.. however, I am underpaid, I have no security, I don’t even get a pension and my salary does not meet the hard word and dedication we as social workers put in! Please take into consideration our recommendation

(Cape Town , 2018-03-03)

#1252

I am a social worker employed in an NPO and strongly agree that the salary scale with government social workers should be equal. We do the same work, if not more, have similar responsibilities and still get paid peanuts.

(East London , 2018-03-03)

#1253

I feel being as exploited by the government of South Africa which turned a blind eye on critical issues that needs to be addressed. Under paid with salary level that under estimate my level of qualifications (4year Honours degree). Capricorn district denied Social Workers with grade progression using late submissions for 2013/14 as a scapegoat where they even tried to reduce scores but after workers refused such attempt, they used late submissions to unfairly punish them not considering poor working conditions and lack of resources like printers or photocopiers.

(Polokwane, 2018-03-03)

Social work its a profession not a calling.

(Johannesburg, 2018-03-04)

#1324

I believe we are very much undermined in the NGO sector. We don't even get subsidies that are relevant to our colleagues at the government sector yet we deliver service to the people.

(Port Elizabeth, 2018-03-04)

#1325

I feel it is not fair that despite working hard to obtain a social work degree 4years down the line we still not employed.

(Durban, 2018-03-04)

#1326

Social work serve a major role as a changing agent profession. Low income and lack of resources degrade the profession and service delivery. Make changes before the profession lose people for other careers.

(Pampierstad, 2018-03-04)

#1327

I want justice for my noble profession which seems to be undermined by many including Higher Authorities. Social Work is a legal profession offered at universities which takes 4 years to complete. For the fact that we are working with poor of the poorest doesn't make us inferior. In fact we relate with ANC led government which claims that they serve the poor of the poorest. We have indeed one common mission. So I'm actually surprised that we are overlooked when other professionals of the same qualifications are recognised.

(Pretoria , 2018-03-04)

#1330

I am a social worker in an NGO. I wish NGO's would be better subsidised so that we, who work in NGO's could receive the same salaries as colleagues in DSD.

(Secunda, 2018-03-04)

#1331

Social workers are undervalued, underpaid and not taken serious by the south African government. Poor working conditions, and the lack of tools of trade are amongst few of the many challenges encountered daily. Mr President you have asked south Africa to send you. However, Social workers have long been there for the orphaned and vulnerable, yet they remain economically vulnerable themselves.

(barberton, 2018-03-04)

#1334

I am signing this because I would like my profession to be recognised and considered. Government should employ Social workers that are staying at home. Case loads for social workers is too much as we all know that this work is very strenuous. Social workers are needed in our communities as they deal with social ills. Government must make sure all department consider to employ Social workers.

(East London, 2018-03-04)

#1338

(Eshowe, 2018-03-04)

(Alexandria, 2018-03-04)

#1352

I agree with everything on the petition, very true indeed

(Kuruman, 2018-03-04)

#1353

The OSD of social workers is not addressing career pathin in relation to remuneration. Social work grade 3 is on the same level as supervisor grade 1.whereas translation of community development OSD there's noticeable difference. The latter is an insult to social work considering that community development is a supporting profession to social work. Moreover, HR department in provinces translates social workers with a 3 year degree same as those with 4 year degrees.

(Bloemfontein , 2018-03-04)

#1354

We need better salaries and improvement of working conditions in our profession. Employment of more Social Workers for the workload we have for rendering of effective services

(Pretoria, 2018-03-04)

#1365

Social workers are neing exploitated. The conditions that we work under are not conducive. The salary level that we are at is insultive, we are being insulted by the employer and our workload is too much. You go to wellness centres such as Kgatelopelo at Mahikeng and get stats of inpatient and outpatient patients most of the are the social workers employed by the Department of Social Development. This department is suppose to addrss poverty but it is poverty striken its self. How can an addict help the addict it does not work like that. We need to be lead by people who have the qualifications of social work just like health department. We want someone who will understand our frastrations, social workers are the victioms of depression and nothing is being done about that. We are forever told that we should comply and complain later, those who are no more due to the deppression caused by the employer will never have the chance to complain. Can we be saved from the employer.

Low Salary ... 10500 per month

(Capetown, 2018-03-04)

#1397

Im am a registered social worker employed by the Dept of Justice as court intermediary. Justice has an administrative function in the judicial system. Intermediaries / social workers are being mis utilised as admin clercks. I myself is being victimised and intimidated by the management. The reason why I left my previous employer was because of the low salary even though I was very happy and I had to apply where is can earn more to sustain my family. I hope this petition gets the necessary attentions to help us social workers in our stride.

(Cape Town, 2018-03-04)
