I'm signing because I believe that the development is a very bad idea and the moving or unearthing of any bodies could have terrible health consequences

This is part of the history of Edenvale.
I take my dogs for walks there.
The markets once a month are so much fun and bring the community together.

(Gauteng, 2019-02-11)

I am apposed to the development

(JOHANNESBURG , 2019-02-11)

I will not stand for the greed of a few putting the health of many at risk. It's totally unacceptable behaviour.

(Edenvale , 2019-02-11)

#222

Flagrant disregard for the law must stop. Potential risk to human health must override commercial considerations

(Edenvale , 2019-02-11)

#224

I don't believe they should develop this property due to the possible diseases that could.be spread

(Edenvale, 2019-02-11)

#225

Avoid rather than take an uncalculated risk!

(Johannesburg , 2019-02-11)

This area is covered in old graves of people and animals that died at the research facility. It will be a disaster to disturb these burial plots

(Edenvale, 2019-02-11)

Development of this suspect land is absurd in any civilised country.

(Edenvale , 2019-02-12)

I would hate to have one of those ghastly epidemics unleashed in the area.

(Edenvale, 2019-02-12)

#236

I love in Edenvale and am worried about the negative and detrimental effect this development will have on my family and the broader community.

(Johannesburg , 2019-02-12)

It scares me that these previously contained contagious diseases could become reintroduced into our community.

(Bedfordview, 2019-02-13)

#245

This is a dangerous site to build on and will result in even more squatters in the area

(Edenvale, 2019-02-14)

#253

I COMPLETELY DISAGREE WITH THE DEVELOPMENT AT SIZWE - THIS WAS AND STILL IS AN INFECTIOUS DISEASE HOSPITAL, WHERE MANY INFECTED PATIENTS WERE BURIED - WE WILL START AN EPIDEMIC IF THESE GRAVES ARE DUG UP

(JOHANNESBURG, 2019-02-15)

#254

I am concerned about the diseases present in the area they wish to build.

(Johannesburh, 2019-02-15)

We live in the area and fear for the health of ourselves and our children

(Edenvale , 2019-02-17)

#263

Strain on infrastructure ; this is a burial site; possibility of unearthing diseases; ........

(Edenvale , 2019-02-18)

#265

There is plenty of other land that does not harbour disease. Plan the city and surrounds properly and stop creating urban slums.

(Johannesburg, 2019-02-21)

#272

I grew up near here and believe this is a great danger to the residents and a disservice as this development is against their will and is also morally wrong.

(Fochville, 2019-02-26)

#278

This area doesn't need to be developed, as it is unknown where grave sites are, and what diseases lie buried beneath the earth.

(Johannesburg, 2019-02-27)

#283

I do not agree with the development of a site containing dormant contagious diseases.

(Edenvale, 2019-02-28)

Respect the graves. Health hazard i.e. Anthrax, bubonic plauge etc. In the ground.

(Edenvale, 2019-02-28)

#288

We the undersigned hereby object to the development in and around the vicinity of the Sizwe Contagious Diseases Hospital for health, safety, religious, cultural, environmental and heritage reasons and call on the Gauteng Provincial Government to stop the development. The site contains Smallpox, Bubonic, Anthrax and other contagious diseases graves and the Western Cape High Court has ruled that developments on grave yard sites for commercial gain is prohibited. In addition we call upon the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs to investigate the above matter urgently and to report back to the community on their findings.

(Edenvale , 2019-03-03)

Against this development

(Edenvale, 2019-03-03)

The risk of contagious diseases spreading through disruptions of the burial grounds is a very high especially diseases which have been eradicated.
