I am signing this because last I checked CANADA
This is an OUTRAGE!!!!!

Kim Snell (London, 2020-03-05)

#4

If a friend who is affected!!

Danielle Brown (London, 2020-03-05)

#7

I know residents impacted by the road closure and believe that more people need to be aware of this situation. If it goes unnoticed and unchallenged, there is a greater risk that it will become the accepted way to handle similar cases in the future.

Sarah Crook (London, 2020-03-05)

#8

This is an injustice. My friends have worked hard for this cottage, including addressing all of the issues related to flooding including having an 18000 break wall constructed at the shoreline. To have them and so many others evacuate their cottages and homes with no concrete plan to return, no way to protect their investment in many cases their HOME or, their home away from home...and with NO compensation - is unfathomable. This - after for years they've been caring, concerned, tax paying and property owning citizens? What is actually even happening here? This is inexcusable.

Michele Paddon (London, 2020-03-05)

#13

I feel this is unfair for the families who have bought houses on this line and to recieve nothing at all and be asked to abandon there purchase.

Lorraine Emmerson (London, 2020-03-05)

#14

Im signing this in outrage as the municipality has failed it residents.

Kimberly Karnas (Chatham, 2020-03-05)

#17

The municipality has other options. Why destroy the homes of 80 families? Build more jetties and groins, add armour rock.
If any members of the CK council lived on Erie Shore Drive, this wouldn’t be happening!

Steph Cox (Blenheim, 2020-03-05)

#19

This is absolutely insane that the municipality is doing this to the residents of Erie shore dr.

Mark Kasubeck (St. Thomas, 2020-03-05)

#23

I support my friends!

Denise Laing (St Thomas, 2020-03-05)

#24

As a tax payer in a neighbouring county I couldn’t imagine being told to pack up and head out. You had no problem collecting funds over the years, it is/was your job to take the proper measures to keep your residents safe and satisfied. Figure it out !

Brodie Golem (Port stanley , 2020-03-05)

#26

You can’t collect taxes for years then ignore those same properties when they are in need

Hrather Jovo (Thorndale , 2020-03-05)

#29

They were allowed to build there by the municipal govt. Had to obtain all permits and pay taxe

Tim Addison (Waterloo, 2020-03-05)

#34

Someone has to stand up against bullies!

Linda Poort (St.thomas, 2020-03-05)

#35

I'm signing this because it is disgusting to think that the municipality of Chatham Kent would turn a head to the residents of their community. The municipality talks a great talk and will sure make it was well broadcasted to the public when they want to make them self's look so good, example when the refugees came to Canada and Chatham Kent made sure that all those people had housing. However now when their own people of the community are in desperate need of help, all they do is stand back and wash their hands of it.

Russ Parent (Comber, 2020-03-05)

#42

I am signing as I own a cottage and property in ERIEAU. I fully support any and all efforts to keep the ESD residents in place, with their homes, land and services to live, work and play. Fight the fight!☘️

Kathleen Bresnahan-Dewar (ERIEAU, 2020-03-05)

#44

It is unbelievable that this is happening to 80 homeowners!

Chris Bellamy (Mount Brydges , 2020-03-05)

#46

I know property owners whose property is affected and they will be locked out of their property with no offer of compensation

Serena Snell (Bayfield, 2020-03-05)

#48

The residents need answers and need to be compensated!

Tracey Clayton (Ingersoll , 2020-03-05)

#54

My family has owned property on this road for over 60 years. We were allowed to build on this dyke and we have paid taxes and have spent thousands of dollars to try to keep the lake back with no financial help from government, farmers or any areas that would be effected if there was a breach.
All we are asking for is fair compensation for being evicted from our homes /cottages.

Irene Kraus (BelleRiver , 2020-03-05)

#57

I think this is disgusting

Sandra Giles (Ingersoll, 2020-03-05)

#58

Our family has been here since 1970 (50 years). We have had good times and bad times in all the years here. My father and his friends built the cottages so that the families could have social gatherings and some place to enjoy during the summer months. Now, this administration wants to evict us without proper compensation for our loss. I feel that we are being treated like the indigenous people of this broken country. We must retain what is rightfully ours.

Werner Kraus (Belle River, 2020-03-05)

#59

I am signing because the decision by local government to close the road is just wrong.

Nora Dowler (Bayfield , 2020-03-05)

#60

We own a property on Erie Shore Drive

Mariska De Jong (Wallaceburg, 2020-03-05)

#66

Homeowners cannot be expected to walk away from their homes due to natural disaster. They need to be fully compensated to allow them to move on with their lives. They have paid taxes to the municipality and now they are due compensation for expropriation of their property.

Jo Doyle (Jasper, 2020-03-05)

#67

Because it’s the right thing to do.

Kelly Girard (Cochrane , 2020-03-05)

#69

This is complete nonsense. You cannot take people’s property from them and give them nothing in return!! Do what is right and help these families, as you should.

Scott Simpson (London, 2020-03-05)

#71

No one deserves to be homeless.

Jillianne Chadwick (LaSalle, 2020-03-05)

#74

It's not right now people have to find a place to live and still pay for their houses that they can longer live in ..........

Rob Vollans (Windsor, 2020-03-05)

#75

I grew up going out on the lake at my aunt and uncles every chance we got! It is beyond upsetting that there isn’t anything set up to help compensate these families in a time of need! They are being evacuated with no sign of when or if they will ever be able to return to their homes. A house is something people work for years to make into their home, they spend a lot of money making sure they have a place to raise their kids/grandkids and even more than that they spend years making memories. These people need to be compensated and thought about because uprooting everything within a week is scary and stressful. I absolutely hope everyone is able to get done what needs to get done before the road closure takes effect

Krystal Miller (Belle River, 2020-03-05)

#76

This is a crime! Property is being repossessed without compensation!? Shameful. This doesn’t happen in the Canada I know. FIX IT

Joanne Dickinson (Toronto , 2020-03-05)

#77

Disgrace and pathetic that these families are losing their homes and properties
Not enough is being done

Elizabeth Mortele (Blenheim, 2020-03-05)

#79

Because I'm loosing a family vacation property, so sad to see that this has gone on for so long with no help, and this is the treatment property owners get, shame on our government

Tammy Cousineau (Windsor, 2020-03-05)

#80

I live in 18260 Erie shore drive and am being kicked out of my house. They gave me 8 days to pack up everything. I will have no access to my house and at this point city council says it permit. They are offering no buy out.

Devy Brouwer (Blenheim , 2020-03-05)

#84

A good friend of mine is one of those loosing their homes. It’s devastating to the home owners and irresponsible on Chatham-Kent’s part.

Andrea Loughlean (London, 2020-03-05)

#89

What you are doing to these people is not right!!

Carly Andronik (London, 2020-03-05)

#96

It’s absolute BS that the municipality can force people from their properties and not even compensate them.

Chantal Lecompte (London , 2020-03-05)

#97

This is unbelievable and should be illegal. Shame.

Jenn Cripton (London , 2020-03-05)

#100

This is unfair.. put yourself in their shoes...

Stacey Broughton (Port Burwell, 2020-03-05)

#101

I am a property owner on Erie Shore Drive

Denise Rutty (Whitby, 2020-03-05)

#103

I believe the people need compensation

Nancy Adams (Goderich, 2020-03-05)

#104

I'm signing because this is completely unacceptable!

Liz Woloshin (Paris, 2020-03-05)

#105

I didn’t believe that anything like this could happen in Canada. How it can be decided that 80+ families were to be homeless without any assistance from government is unthinkable. If it were an emergency the Red Cross or like would help. These families are on there own to pack up their entire lives in 9 days. Ridiculous.

Christine Miller (Brampton, 2020-03-05)

#115

It’s not right - help find a solution!
You need to try before you give up.

Dwayne Dejonge (Chatham, 2020-03-05)

#119

I believe it is very unfair for the municipality to force residents to move, and quite possibly lose their homes without any compensation.

Robon Jackson-Awcock (St. Marys , 2020-03-06)

#121

The way they are going about fixing the infrastructure of the Dyke has not been an issue for decades.

Paul Mailloux (Windsor , 2020-03-06)

#132

It’s affecting the residents and it’s heartbreaking

Savi Maharaj (London , 2020-03-06)

#133

This is dispicable! That council better start reassigning budgets for this because if one, and only one, frivolous expenditure comes out of council in the next few years, they may have to run for their lives....

Jerry Howell (Belle River, 2020-03-06)

#135

Unreal what is happening.

Amy Wood (Erieau, 2020-03-06)

#136

I am signing because my husband and I and our 3 children are owners of property and residents on such road for 32 years and have been fighting hard to make this stop!!!

Leslie Dixon (Blenheim , 2020-03-06)

#137

Government needs to get their heads out of their asses and help these tax payers. Your ignorance is not acceptable. These poor families are being treated unfairly.

Cindy Gaudet (Windsor, 2020-03-06)

#141

I went to help move my friends today. I can't believe what they are going through. Just awful.

Yvon Gaudet (Windsor, 2020-03-06)

#142

Supporting my friend who has been delivered this devastating news. The municipality needs to step up and help these residents

Cindy Crundwell (Lasalle, 2020-03-06)

#143

It’s purely wrong in every way .

Linda Vanderwerff (London, 2020-03-06)

#145

My parents live close to the Canadian border on the St.Lawrence River and this type of flooding happens yearly. Nobody should have to endure hardships if this is their home where they’re paying taxes.

Kelsey Black (Lake Wylie, 2020-03-06)

#149

My best friends family cottage is one of the properties affected. It’s heartbreaking to see them abandoned by their Municipality at this most crucial time. At a minimum...Give owners access so they can protect their land and remain insured!

Nancy Durand (Harcourt, 2020-03-06)

#151

This is not OK... our council has failed us for so many years.

Connie Vidler (erieau, 2020-03-06)

#154

This is wrong. Compensate home owners!

Dave Ernewein (Baden, 2020-03-06)

#158

I am signing because these are people and who has the right to take away their hard earned property, who pay taxes and have families and memories made here. what is wrong with this municipality!!! this is insane!!

LAURIE SITLER (WINDSOR, 2020-03-06)

#162

I’m signing because I think it is unconscionable that a municipality would not be providing some kind of compensation and assistance to the home owners. This is a problem that has been brewing for a long time, and the owner’s association has been trying to work with the municipality.

Michelle Spencer (Linwood , 2020-03-06)

#167

This isn't fair. You can't blame the citizens for the municipal and Provincial governments not doing anything. You had the option to fix this years ago and chose not to

Mike Myers (Chatham, 2020-03-06)

#168

Our community is better than this

Andrea Stevenson-Stewart (Chatham, 2020-03-06)

#170

The municipality allowed the buying, selling, building and improvements of those properties as well as collected (high) taxes from them. Now they’re taking away the road and rendering their properties inaccessible, unprotected and worthless. An expensive dike to fix has turned into an even bigger expensive project due to poor maintenance by the city. The lack of planning and foresight has now destroyed people’s lives. Tossing them a few sandbags and cardboard boxes is comical after tossing them out of the way for you to complete this ridiculous band-aid solution.
Shame on you.
I’ll bet once the cheap fix is complete, some Chatham bourgeoise will offer to buy the strip and redevelop it and you’ll take those funds as an excuse to pay for a better fix.

Hillary W (Hamilton , 2020-03-06)

#174

I am signing this because this is wrong that a municipal government can people’s land without recourse , without compensation and without any regard for tax paying Canadian citiizens

Chris Van Neck (Blenheim, 2020-03-06)

#175

These people need support from the municipality. They need some type of compensation to stay on their feet. It’s not their choice to move out of their homes.

Patti Crago-Harrogate (London , 2020-03-06)

#178

Just not right

Toby Ebbage (Brussels , 2020-03-06)

#182

I believe that we need to solve this problem

Roselyn Hobbd (Blenheim, 2020-03-06)

#185

People Work hard to own a home and pay taxes to the city to keep the biggest investment safe and sound. Not far to be removed from you Home and pressured to move on and move out without any say so.

Dwayne Lovell (Port Alma, 2020-03-06)

#187

There should be no one left by the government to struggle in this kind of situation! All tax payers / families should be protected and not left to be homeless!

Katalin Valentin (LONDON, 2020-03-06)

#189

The Municipality is directly responsible for the disrepair of the drainage infrastructure that supports/ protects the dyke and their properties. They have shirked their responsibility, under the Drainage Act, for decades; now the Administration and Council say, and I paraphrase: “so long, and screw you! We’d much rather use our emergency funds to build an arena, than be responsible for our failure.”

The Municipality’s response to this
situation is reprehensible.

Damon Srokosz (Erieau, 2020-03-06)

#190

I am signing because I have friends that live on that road. The families deserve compensation.

Carl Emmott (Blenheim , 2020-03-06)

#192

My Aunt and Uncle are one of the too many evicted from their home.

Tiffany Walter (Wallaceburg , 2020-03-06)

#193

I am signing because there should be no reason someone looses their home.
The area has always been a concern. Taking people’s homes away is not the right thing to do in this case.
If anything, leaving should be voluntary. Not mandatory. Extremely disappointed in Chatham-Kent.

Lauren Aleksich (Chatham, 2020-03-06)

#198

My family home is one of the houses affected. We moved from the area when I was a small child and my cousin lives there now. I have such fond memories of spending time there. Its upsetting that the municipality has let things get to this point and they must now do the right thing and help these people

Cindy Maxfield (Grand Bend, 2020-03-06)

#199

I know someone very special that lives on this road and they do not deserve their home to be taken from them, especially with no compensation.

Heather Candido (Tilbury, 2020-03-06)
