I am choosing to stay in Australia long term. I have started my career here, although with this situation our office is closed until further notice. I’m struggling to get by at these times. I pay my taxes and I’m contributing act to my community here is Australia and I have bills/rent and a life here. As I’m still a working holiday maker, my partner and I have planned to go into the DeFacto visa as of May. This could complicate our schedule to starting our family and future together.

I’m signing because the government should be helping people in these times of needs. As a working holiday visa holder not only do we pay more tax than Australian citizens, we also keep the agricultural section of this country running.

I have been here for almost 2 years now, I am now a student although in my first year I have always paid my taxes, paid in to my super and feel that we should deserve at least access to our super.

This way we do not cost the economy anything and use our own generated resources to get by.

I’m also a temporary visa holder and I lost my job last week. I have to pay my bills and rent, but I only got enough to pay 1 more month. I can’t fly back home as there aren’t any flights at the moment. I think many other temporary visa holders are passing through this. So it’s important that the government considers some ways to support us as well.

It's so disheartening that the Gov are not addressing concerns with regards to work visa holders, who pay tax, and have been contributing significantly to the Australian economy.
Skilled immigrants have offset population ageing, improved labour productivity, helped businesses to source skills that are difficult to find at short notice, and addressed the needs of regional areas and industries. Yet, in times likes these, are made to feel that they are not apart of the Australian community. No government invites skilled workers into their country, unless there is a needs to do so, and economic value in doing so. Australia has reaped the benifits of skilled migration for decades. So why aren't skilled work visa holders included in your plans for support? How do you expect this workforce to fend for themselves, when they have been laid off work or stood down as well? Are they now all of a sudden not a part of ur economy and community?

As a tax payer since 2015 as a temporary resident and left without job due to coronavírus, I expect that I should receive my early super annuation. That’s the minimum Austrália can do to support temporary residents and tax payers.

Noemi Czerna-Minea (Brisbane, 2020-03-29)

#4732

I’m signing because we pay taxes as Australian citizens. Some temporary visas pay even higher tax rates. It is only fair to receive a financial support as Australians do during this tough time.
As a student visa holder, I also believe that the Government should ask compassion and relaxation on schools and universities fees. This should not be different from the Government’s request of compassion and understanding to utilities providers or landlords for easing the expense burdens on Australians’ shoulders. We have been affected too, we are suffering too, we are human too.

Anyone who lives and works in Australia and pays taxes should be assisted through this unprecedented episode. With the number of Nzers living here and contributing to the economy it is disgusting that they do not receive any financial assistance.
