I'm signing this petition because I am currently on 485 visa- Post graduate work visa and I have been unemployed as I was a casual employee in a restaurant in the hospitality sector. It is difficult for me to pay my rent and Bills. Hence this financial help would provide as a helping hand in this hour of need.

I've been in Sydney for nearly 5 years. I've done my bachelor's and worked in various streams. I was abroad visiting my parents when I heard Australia borders were closing. I spent every cent of my savings to come back because I believe this to be my home and my life is here.

I'm a student visa and I believe that it's unfair after 7 years living in Australia that I don't receive any type of support..considering all the fees with pay to stay here!

We come to Australia and are treated as second class citizens with no rights even though we strongly contribute towards the economy and pay tax. We need the support fo the government now, we are stranded and if we have no work we can not afford food or accommodation.

I'm signing because the govt can't neglect these migrants - it's disgusting if they fail to act on this.

Sebastian Romeo (Adelaide , 2020-03-31)

Because my home is here now. I work like any other Australian citizen or permanent resident does, I pay taxes just like them and I have contributed to this country’s economy since the day I landed. We usually don’t get any welfare benefits, which is definitely not fair but that’s another story, however I believe that in moments of hardship temporary visa holders should be taken into consideration.

This directly affects me as I am on a subclass 309 visa and a temporary resident. I am unemployed at the moment due to COVID-19 and so is my partner.

I am signing because Temporary work visa holder need financial security similar to australian citizen or Permanent visa holder. It would be very hard for people with these visa to survive without support from government. I have paid taxes in last 2 and a half years on temporary work visa. I am worried about my future because of this exclusion from wage subsidy.

I don’t think it’s fair that temporary visitors to Australia who already pay blanket taxes on every dollar we earn, and contribute to the Australian workforce and economy aren’t entitled to any support in a time where they can’t even return home if they wanted too.

Many of us have had hours cut, jobs lost, promises of sponsorship visas pulled but currently receive no assistance from a government and economy who make astronomical amounts from foreign visitors and their input.

Nic Farley (Sydney, 2020-03-31)

I'm signing because I lost my job at the restaurant but still need to pay 300$ rent each week ! Together with my partner we're stuck in Australia due to Covid19. We were supposed to leave for Asia yesterday, Sunday 29th. But this flight has of course been cancelled due to Covid19.
Now, we don't have any possibility to leave Australia and we're finding ourselves stuck here without a job, and apparently without any financial help from the government.

I'm on temporary visa and I don't have any income and lost my shifts.

I'm ineligible for early access to Superannuation and financial support for the government.

I can't pay for rents, bills and tuition. Even though my saving is run out and I won't be able to buy myself food.

I can't fly back to my hometown and I don't know what to do.

Please help me.

Finding myself in this exact position, I 100% agree with the petition. We've given Australia so much and in return are being left behind with no support whatsoever.

I hold a provisional partner visa 820 (temporary) and I am currently waiting for the second stage to be assessed, the outcome of which will be PR. I have worked in Australia for over 3 and a half years now but, due to Covid 19, have lost one of my jobs and had a significant reduction in my hours in another meaning we are having to live off my partners wage only. These are obviously unforeseen circumstances and I hope the government can help those that contribute to the Australian economy regardless of their residency status

I'm signing because at the moment I'm stuck here with a tourist visa that is gonna expire the beginning of June. I cannot work and I cannot go back to Italy cause the flights at the moment are super expensive, so I'm running out of money. I would like to have the opportunity to work and pay at least the rent and then when I will find a good flight I will fly back. I've already done the first and the second working holiday visas so I cannot do anything else, I haven't worked 6 months in the farm during my 2nd WHV, but just 3 months. Please let me know if I can get some help.

Marco Ravelli (Fremantle, 2020-03-31)

This is a right to every human being if and when they cannot work due to the cancellation of shifts. I am without work and need every assistance possible as Irish citizens cant avail of Australian benefits without a possible petition like such .

I’m on a temporary 457 visa, I’ve been stood down for two months and due to visa requirements by law I’m not even allowed to look for another job if I was lucky to find one during this period. I’ve been here for 6 years, paid my tax, and spent over $40000 in visas (two years of student visa, 457 visa and $8000 now on partner visa as I’m in relationship with an Australian citizen.
