Jimmy died in that tunnel doing the work he loved, been in the industry since, I'm told, he left school.
An unfortunate accident that left his family bereft.
A fitting memorial, name the tunnel after Jimmy.

My memories of Jim are many. He would travel from Taupo to Hicksbay and always bring us food or presents. He always had time for us younger ones. He taught us how to work for rewards. We would collect pine cones all day and then he would take us all for a swim. As I grew older I realised He was a man that did not run with the rabbits of hunt with the hounds. He was a strong man that stood on his own. Provided for his loved ones and put time and effort into the next generations. Much Love & respect always for this Wonderful man ❤️

I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Jim before his tragic accident but the stories and respect for the man amoungst my previous colleagues speaks volumes of his character and the lives hes touched throughout his career and personal life.
