I truly believed in our leadership under President Ramaphosa and that we could make this work. Now we have senior officials in the Government chopping and changing Willy nilly. If we are going to get through this we need clear direction and concise rules.

Jonina Fourie (BENONI , 2020-04-29)

#204

Because the sale of cigarettes profit by government can be use to buy more food.

Hannelie Van Der Merwe (Kempton Park, 2020-04-29)

#206

I have depression, am bipolar, my husband is working in Mali, have not seen him since January, he work a 3 month rotation and was supposed to be home now for his 3 week leave period. I don't know WHEN I will see him again and now I need to have withdrawals which might cost my life?????? We are in isolation, HOW is smoking in my OWN house a risk to spread the disease???????????

Luzanne Vorstman (Port Elizabeth, 2020-04-29)

#207

Its unfair on us so where do we get it from. It will make us buy illegally

Poovashnie Reddy (Sophia town, 2020-04-29)

#209

I'm a smoker and 2000 people is ridiculous number to base a national pole on...really there are more than 8 million people who smoke in this country. Enough said!

Kurt Wolhuter (Centurion, 2020-04-29)

#211

I feel it is unfair to smokers, even though I am not one.

Louise De Beer (Germiston, 2020-04-29)

#212

It's my choice to smoke. Forcing people to quit smoking is causing frustration, anxiety and anger. People are isolated and now have to go through involuntary withdrawel. This is just going to set off a timebom.

Liezl Erasmus (Pinetown, 2020-04-29)

#214

Its just ridiculous - Seriously for 0.0083 % of the population of country infected they kill our economy and take away our rights.

Rhett Cawood (Benoni, 2020-04-29)

#216

I am a smoker and it is my right to be able to purchase cigarettes!

Claire Freshwater (Durban, 2020-04-29)

#217

Allow the sale of cigarettes. Bring back cigarettes!

Charlene Mare (Pinetown , 2020-04-29)

#218

The ban of tobacco sales based on the assumption that it is causing more harm or puts you at greater risk of contracting the covid 19 virus is completely unfounded and unconstitutional, there are more and new study's done that found that some how smoking reduces the severity of illness, there is also speculation from health professionals that indicates that smoking could be aiding in the prevention of contracting the virus. This is all based on publicised international findings.

riaan bouwer (Centurion, 2020-04-29)

#219

How can one say that its legal and then its changing bay another one

Stephanus Serfontein (Secunda, 2020-04-29)

#222

We are not children. ..

Zettie Potgieter (Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, 2020-04-29)

#224

I am a smoker, who needs cigarettes to survive

Luewell Permall (Durban, 2020-04-29)

#229

I want the ban on cigarettes lifted

Muhammad K (Durban , 2020-04-29)

#231

It is wrong to take away our rights.
We are confined to our homes so how does this affect the mere 2000 opposing the sale. This makes no logical sense unless there is an alternate agenda

Catherine Nortje (Kempton park, 2020-04-29)

#233

My friends and family are smokers and they are not doing to well with out it

Vivek Bhima (Centurion, 2020-04-29)

#235

My constitutional right and choice to smoke

Helen Mulder (Durban, 2020-04-29)

#241

It is my choice to make whether I smoke or not during the lockdown 😡😡😡

Nicola Turner (Johannesburg , 2020-04-29)

#243

I'm signing this because I feel that it doesnt make medical sense for you to expect a smoker to go cold turkey on something they're dependent one. You cannot force such things, are they FULLY aware of the withdrawal symptoms?

Michelee Jansen (JOHANNESBURG, 2020-04-29)

#244

Who runs this country, Ramaphosa or Dlamini-Zuma? He says we can buy on Friday, now she says no. Puppets

Shaz Nordhoff (Pinetown , 2020-04-29)

#245

How can such a tiny minority of people make the government change the rules? Besides banning sales does not stop people smoking it just means we travel further to buy cigarettes from an illegal source.

Andre Gunter (Cape Town , 2020-04-29)

#246

I have a right to make my own decision.

Giselle Brits (Kempton , 2020-04-29)

#248

I want to beable to purchase cigarettes, it's legal in this country and now we immune to it.

Rowan Permall (Durbam, 2020-04-29)

#252

At this stage of my life - after 40 years of smoking - the effects of stopping suddenly is very dangerous for me. I do not share my cigarettes with anyone !

Ria Tiley (Randburg, 2020-04-29)

#254

I don't see why they punishing people

Chad Marx (Queensburgh, 2020-04-29)

#255

It's my choice to smoke, not someone else's choice for me.

Tandi Thursfield (Durban, 2020-04-29)

#256

Wee need to buy sigerretes and then there wil be no blackmarket on sigerretes

michael Allers (ermelo, 2020-04-29)

J W Visser

Johan Visser (Kleinmond, 2020-04-29)

#259

We need cigarettes.

People that currently have them are selling them 3 times the normal price.

Jerome Naidoo (DURBAN, 2020-04-29)

#261

The Government stands to make over R200 a day from the 7 million smokers in South Africa. Our economy needs that kind of boost. And I smoke and want to buy some on Friday Dammit

Stephen Watkins (Cape Town , 2020-04-29)

#264

I want ******* cigarettes

Wes Hitchin (Johannesburg , 2020-04-29)

#265

I am a smoker & no Minister should have the right to undermine a decision made by the President which allows people to purchase cigarettes during phase 4. People will be forced to buy cigarettes which are illicit.

Jackie Williams (Gauteng, 2020-04-29)

#267

I want cigarettes to be available as from 1 may 2020

Rita Van Tonder (Gauteng , 2020-04-29)

#268

My human rights are being violated with cruel and unusual punishment. Minority consesus outweighs majority which is ridiculous in a democracy. Power is being abused for political gain.

Craig Smith (Springs, 2020-04-29)

#270

It’s my right to smoke!!!!!!!!!!

Sarah Hagedorn (Cape Town , 2020-04-29)

#273

It's our right !!!!! President said ban be lifted and now????? This is unacceptable

Shirley Heath (Cape town , 2020-04-29)

#275

There is no way that me smoking alone at home could affect anybody's health. Quiting is not an option. The ban only empowers the criminals and us law abiding citizens must suffer for it

Dirk Van der Heever (Benoni, 2020-04-29)

#276

I'm sick and tired of being treated like a child. I have a right to smoke and purchase smokes. Again the government lies to its people.

Natasha Kilroe Lewis (Durban, 2020-04-29)

#277

It is my human right to decide what I spend my money on! And if I want to smoke I should be allowed to do so!! It's my personal choice!

Zelieka Saunders (Johannesburg, 2020-04-29)

#278

It is my freedom of choice to smoke.

Wendy Alexander (Randburg, 2020-04-29)

#279

The government is losing out on a lot of revenue by not allowing tobacco and alcohol to be sold. The revenue generated by the sale of these items can only help the country in this time of need.

Louise Falconer (Durban, 2020-04-29)

#283

I am not a smoker but I feel that the continuing banning of cigarettes is a misuse of governmental power. There is no direct relationship between stopping smoking and stopping the spread of CoVid 19. If you start controlling and restricting people arbitrarily and without logic or reason, you risk losing the faith and trust of the general public. This feels like an abuse of power

Suzanne Jaffe (Cape Town, 2020-04-29)

#284

This was announced smoking will be on sale however 2 days prior there was a ban!! Can't we believe anything said by them can be believed??????

Gaylene Butler (Kzn, 2020-04-29)

#285

I speak for the majority!! We have rights

Emily Heath (Johannesburg , 2020-04-29)

#291

It's democratic right to smoke.. People aren't dying of Covid because they are smokers... I don't share (skyf) my smokes

Jacques Maris (Gauteng, 2020-04-29)

#294

Due to the fact that I could not get my alternative product for smoking ( havrnt smoked in 2 years) I have had to resort to smoking again.

Megan Robertson (Johannesburg, 2020-04-29)

#295

The Government has no right to take away something I pay for out out if my hard earned salary which I have already paid Tax on..

Bev De Jager (Kzn, 2020-04-29)

#302

We as smokers need to smoke..it's not that easy to quit.
Smokers has a les change of getting the covid 19 then the people that are non smokers..and that was proved..really..
BRING BACK THE SIGERETS

Melissa Pretorius (Alberton, 2020-04-29)

#304

My personal habits do not affect others. Even if restrictions are put in place that is acceptable but banning the product completely will cause chaos and more damage

Shavonne Bradley (Johannesburg, 2020-04-29)

#305

There is no reason why the sale of cigarettes should be banned its not done anywhere else but in)SA. What is the reason... A power game!!!

Heidi Geyser (Durban, 2020-04-29)

#307

I am a smoker and it is my decision not one that should be taken for me by goverment.

Maritza Kruger (Hillcrest, 2020-04-29)

#308

How can you turn a substance sold by yourselves and allowed people to get addicted to, pulled in the sin tax for years into a contraband overnight? What is the purpose of your mechanism of control I now have to wonder under the cover of a pandemic. Half the anc says sell tobacco, the other half say no the people don’t have a democracy they can’t have the power, I guess the anc faction not run by president won this one.

Louise Bartlett (Hillcrest, 2020-04-29)

#310

We don't all share smoke plus some of us are all alone and affect no one it also helps for our mental stress suicidal thoughts etc

Maria Elizabeth Wenlock (ETEKWENI, 2020-04-29)

#315

I smoke. You can at least let us buy our cigarettes when we are buying essential food. You cannot do this to people. It is my human right to smoke if I want. Thank you

Lorraine Menezes (Vereeniging, 2020-04-29)

#320

I smoke at home during the lockdown period. Not breaking any rules on social distancing or sharing/licking cigarettes as is implied by some politicians. Having people traveling in taxis and busses and the poor people fighting their way to obtain a food parcel is more conducive to spread the virus. Only losers is Treasury cause illegitimate tobacco sales flouraging and no tax is paid to the state

Danie Kilian (Port Elizabeth, 2020-04-29)

#321

The president lied to us!!

Alexa Norton (Johannesburg , 2020-04-29)

#322

The government has no right to take away my smoking when I do it in my own home they have already taken partial freedom from us

Kim Reay (Cape Town, 2020-04-29)

#325

Because it's my human right to decide if I want to smoke and it's unfair to withhold sale of tabacco after our president told us that it will be available. Unfair to have to get charged 3 times the price to buy illegal smokes. Let us smoke it my democratic right.

Roslyn Bentley (Port elizabeth, 2020-04-29)

#326

I'm a bladdy smoker and need to smoke. It's my constitutional right to do so

Candace Fobian (Durban, 2020-04-29)

How many domestic violence cases will there be if people is depndant on nicotene and now it gets taken away. Crime wil skyrocket now.

corne kruger (Elandsfontein, 2020-04-29)

#330

My Brother is starting to drive me mad! Tobacco are available but are now being bought illegal... I do not like this. Just make it legal, and let them get Their cigarettes. They are not disturbing anybody when smoking at home, But if they don't have Cigarettes, They are irritating everybody!!!!! Please

Andre Kotze (Brits, 2020-04-29)

#331

Because I have constitutional right to smoke and I'm nor ensa gering anyone else or myself while doing it, working from home.

Francois Joubert (Centurion , 2020-04-29)

#332

It's my constitutional right to smoke in the privacy of my home

Helena Doulgeris (Gauteng , 2020-04-29)

#333

It’s my right to smoke!!!!!! I live in a “democracy” not a communist country apparently!!!!!!!

Tarryn Mulder (Durban , 2020-04-29)

#335

This is a draconian abuse of my rights. The covid 19 virus is being used as an excuse by the government to overturn the rights granted to all citizens of south africa under our constitution.

Vivienne Reynolds (Vanderbijlpark , 2020-04-29)

#340

Your killing the economy, some people are unable to function without smokes.

Andrea Dugmore (Pretoria , 2020-04-29)

I think I am old enough to decide for myself.

Claudine Mac Lean (Polokwane , 2020-04-29)

#349

Julie Morris (Boksburg, 2020-04-29)

#351

#352

L

Deidre Gunter (Cape Town, 2020-04-29)

#353

I’m signing this because the ban on cigarettes is unfair, it is not intoxicating like alcohol and does not cause people to be violent. By banning cigarettes, you as the government are opening up avenues for the public to contravene the lockdown regulations to acquire cigarettes illegally. Not to forget the lack of sales will cause a lack of income for the government via the taxes on cigarettes.

Yahya Muhammad Mahomedy (Durban, 2020-04-29)

#356

We have rights too and smoking at home keeps us sain and we have our rights

Jacques Wilken (Johannesburg, 2020-04-29)

#357

Covid19 is spread by far more than cigarette smoking. It's ludicrous. It's my right to smoke

Bev De Wit (Kwazulu Natal, 2020-04-29)

#362

Smoking in my own home doesn't harm anyone... and generally when you stop smoking you become sick at first and would like to avoid that if possible.

Jerryn Fosteras (Durban, 2020-04-29)

#367

I WANT TO SMOKE

Fransie Swanepoel (Gauteng, 2020-04-29)

#370

I'm signing because I want the sales of cigarettes to be legalized as per governments original statement, or atleast permit sale for 1 week so smokers can stock up

Rakesh Sudhu (Durban, 2020-04-29)

#380

I dont agree to give up my freedom of choice. This goes against the constitution of South Africa.

Ross van den Heever (Ndlambe, 2020-04-29)

#385

Every person has a RIGHT to decide if they want to smoke or not. Talking about being treated like children. We don't share a cigarette.

Dalene Janse Van Rensburg (Roodepoort , 2020-04-29)

#388

I'm signing becauce 1 days notice is to short, and it is unfair to the smokers.

Jacques Liebenberg (Durban , 2020-04-29)

#393

This is cruel, my anxiety and depression is skyrocketing! Please don’t make us criminals, please just let us buy our cigarettes when buying groceries 🙏

Manda Matthaei (Stellenbosch, 2020-04-29)

#398

I don't believe not allowing cigarettes is going to make any difference to our problems at this time. Please amend the rule to include cigarettes. Thank you

Lynne Havenga (Durban, 2020-04-29)

#400
