US Cattleman calling for the immediate investigation by the Department of Justice in the cattle market

Comments

#204

I’m a cattle feeder from Iowa and I’m sick of the packers getting rich off the months of hard work others do. It’s not right that they have record profits and we are losing money.

Jon Reaman (Odebolt, 2020-05-07)

#205

The effects all people in the U.S. I personally want this to be dealt with there by assuring the cattle raisers are paid for their efforts to give us the best. No foreign meats to be brought in the U.S.

Vicki O'Neill (North Platte, 2020-05-07)

#207

It is time that cattle farmers got their fair share. Packers are getting filthy rich while farmers struggle to pay their bills. We don’t want a handout, we just want our fair share.

Brandon McDuffa (Hodges , 2020-05-07)

#208

Packers buying at .95 selling for 4.01 price gouging. Importing 37,000 metric tons a week to ensure USA ranchers don’t receive a fair price.

Tommy Hall (Uniontown Ar, 2020-05-07)

#213

I believe in a fair market.

Haley Hall (Rudy, 2020-05-07)

#214

My husband and I are raising our two small children as the 6th generation (on both sides of the family) to farm and raise quality cattle in Iowa. There has been an Oligopoly in the meat packing industry for many years, and COVID 19 has further exposed the control they have on the industry as well as the price fixing. They have ruined the industry standard of price discovery by making purchases on the farm and coming up with a "formula" that if you choose to sell that way, you have no idea what you will get. there is not enough competition nor a free market and because there is only 4, they are able to easily collude on price.

#238

I am in support of getting the doj on these packers and implement some sort of cash trade

Jace Thomae (Winters, 2020-05-07)

Cattle business is our lively hood

Chris Shaner (Seneca, 2020-05-07)

#241

As a producer, who began our farm & ranch with my husband, it is critical for our fiscal longevity to stop the price fixing of the beef industry by the beef packing industry.

Teddy Weekes Charlton (Ellensburg WA 98926, 2020-05-07)

#242

I'm sick of getting pennies on the dollar and watch the big branded stores charge $8 or $9000.00 dollars for a beef !!!

I am in the cattle businees

Steve Vaughn (Springfield , 2020-05-08)

#281

I am signing because I stand by my family, friends, and neighbors who work diligently everyday to ensure I have food on my table. It is time they are able to place the same quality food they provide on theirs. Our economy, schools, health, and livelihoods depend on good, quality food.

Alyx Bruce (Cheyenne, 2020-05-08)

#283

The cattlemen have been getting robbed at the slaughter house for years & it isn't right . The packers are the ones making the biggest profit for the smallest amount of work while the rancher works the most & gets paid the least.

Edna McDowell (Hobbs, 2020-05-08)

#286

Eat beef

Shay Payne (Weatherford , 2020-05-08)

#294

Please save our livelihood and our industry from this injustice

Corey Cline (Kearney, 2020-05-08)

#296

Im a rancher trying hold on. We need to narrow the gap from ranch to packers.

Arlan Wall (Leesburg Tx, 2020-05-08)

#297

I’m on the family ranch and the price gap between us and the packers is ridiculous. How can they profit $2300 per animal while most are losing money or breaking even. It’s not right that we’re importing food when we raise the best beef in The world. Sonny Purdue is a joke and allows ncba to control him. They don’t care about the family rancher they care only about giant profits no matter who they hurt. Please help out the people of this great nation.

Sterling Brown (Camp Crook, 2020-05-08)

#298

DOJ should investigate EVERYTHING Trump and his cronies have done. Ever.

Cliff Hall (Rudy, 2020-05-08)

#299

Our family raises cattle and its dads sorce of income and it has hurt him very badly and its not fare that someone can just move the line when ever they want and especially those who do so for personal gain ! Drain this swamp !!! This needs to get to Trump !!!

Jim Goldesberry (Sperry , ok, 2020-05-08)

#300

This is too important to not do anything.

Steve Lawrence (McMinnville, OR, 2020-05-08)

#301

I'm signing because as cattle producer I feel we are in a way being taken advantage of by packers on the pricing of our cattle and price fixing based on imported beef.

The American Farmer is being systematically undercut in a corrupt monopoly!

Craig Southern (Homestead, 2020-05-08)

#324

We need to look into this
very corrupt system that’s intended to take us down so congress can control us through food.

Terry Dahl (Camp Crook, 2020-05-08)

Cale Milam (Auburn, 2020-05-08)

#351

There is no reason for this to be happening

Jeri Gill (Woodward, 2020-05-09)

#354

Ranchers should be able to get a fair price for their animals, and shouldn't be forced out of business by the big packing companies. I already buy a pig locally and have it processed, best pork you can buy and at a reasonable price. I have a friend purchasing a freezer and we will be buying an Oklahoma beef to share.

Terry Laznik (Stillwater, Oklahoma , 2020-05-09)

#360

The major 4 companies are price gouging on live stock. The prices should be trickling down the chain instead of stopping at the packers controling the live market instead of the live market following supply and demand.

Donnadee Waibel (Cameron, 2020-05-09)

#362

Im signing the petion because, im small cattle producer and depend on the market price on selling my beef. I have notice for years that the market is low when I sell. But the store price of a piece of meat is almost as much what I and other ranchers sell beefs alive. So there needs to be some looking into. On how is it less cost to ship in beef from another country than to sell our own beef here. They get shipped to the stores by the same trucks how is that possible.

Pacomio Mondragon (Ranchos de Taos, 2020-05-09)

#364

I’m a beef producer!!

Keith Massey (Jesup, 2020-05-09)

#366

I'm a farmer's daughter, wife, sister and Momma and we can't starve forever! Our beef check off dollars need to go to HELPING US, the American flFarmers and Ranchers, NOT padding pockets!!

Rachel Rothmayer (Collins, 2020-05-09)

#368

Food processing monopolies are a national security risk and are hurting farmers, factory workers and consumers.

Rajkumar Hiremath (Edmond, 2020-05-09)

#370

there needs to be past laws enforced, Packers&Stockyards Act, and the Big 4 Packers broke up, they have broke the American cattle producers with their collusion between them, Paying record low prices for American cattle and selling boxed beef at record highs, bragging about first 1/4 profits of 332% while taking advantage of producers and consumers both,

JohnBoy Stanley (wanette, 2020-05-09)

#371

Unfair prices to beef producers

Josh Mullen (Sedgwick , 2020-05-09)

#378

I want to support ranchers in the U.S A.

Valerie Lavely (Gainesville, 2020-05-10)

#379

my husband is a rancher and suffering! The American rancher should be praised dor what they do as keepers of our sacred land but instead they a are abused physically, emotionally and financially. We treat our dogs better than our American farms and ranchers. We cannot loose to the progressive machine. God help us!

Kimberly Collins (Cave Creek, 2020-05-10)

#380

My friend is struggling as a rancher and farmer. Terrible that are ranchers are a dying breed. Help us

Kimberly Collins (Cave Creek, 2020-05-10)

#382

Producers and Feeders the immediate investigation by the US Department of Justice to look into the price fixing and collusion within the fed cattle market and to examine the current structure of the meat packing industry in complaint with US Antitrust Law and the Packers and Stockyards Act of 1921

Debbie Strobeck (Arlington, 2020-05-10)

#383

Price fixing is killing us as cattle producers

Mark Strecker (St. Cloud , fl, 2020-05-10)

#384

We have been ranching for a lifetime, (30 years) we work 2 jobs. Our 8 hour 5 days a week day job, then come home to 2nd shift, Ranching!
We are tired! Who will feed you, when we retire?
The average age of cattle ranchers is 60.
The price we get for a calf, weaned off a cow, the first in the chain of production to consumption. Will not pay for the price of keeping its mother for a year, or make a land payment. Neither will it pay a wage for the rancher or any kind of health insurance.
Hence, the other jobs we have to have.
It's too late for us, we know nothing else but hard work, but how many millennials do you think will want to work, as hard as we have. Some that inherit or are born into it, will do well. The rest, how can they, when everything it takes, cost wise to raise a calf to weaning, the price of which is beyond our control. Is more, a lot more than what you can sell your product for.
Packers are posting BILLIONS in profits, ranchers barely breaking even.
Research, follow the money, it sure as hell isn't in my pocket!

Keith and Deborah Collins (Vinita, 2020-05-10)

#385

The packers are taking advantage of producers and consumers.

Brian Little (Wann, ok, 2020-05-10)

#390

My father and brother are both farmers/ranchers and their livelihood is built on the beef market. It is disturbing that cattle stock prices are at an all time low and beef prices in the grocery store have skyrocketed.

Timothy Kriley (Topeka, 2020-05-11)

#392

I'm signing because I am worried about the livelihoods and continued existence of the American Rancher and their communities and economies.
We produce the best and safest product in the world!!!
We should be able to make a comfortable living for the hard work and superior product we produce. I don't care about the WTO or anywhere else.
We are the United States of America and the world super power. Let's act like it!!!
If all these other countries or people have a problem with U.S. producers labeling put born raised and slaughtered products or with us stopping imports then let those people or countries label their own and compete. I am confident in my product.
There is no reason for us to import beef at all be it on the hoof or in a box!!!
The big four processors are cheating the producer and the consumer.

Cattle market is fraudulent!

Robert Hofer (Broadview, 2020-05-11)

This has been going on for far too long!! Our family farms are losing the battle to even break even and the way of life we do this for is at risk!
