I love the course and have had many great times there...

George Lane (Wiltshire , 2020-09-09)

#605

I’m signing because not only does the history of golf played there have resonance, the fact that it is a municipal course to be enjoyed by all is more rare these days. Moreover, the council will lose it’s revenue, but the costs of the land will still exist. Whatever could that mean for the land...?

Michael Darch (Cheltenhan, 2020-09-09)

#608

I play at the golf course regularly every time I go to Cheltenham. There is no better course for views and to have the dog along with you.

Richard Moger (Farnham , 2020-09-09)

#611

Cleeve is an iconic golf course loved by many people

Mr Steve Jones (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#614

Tewkesbury Borough Council won't stop until they have blighted or built on every beauty spot in their area.

rOB Sly (Tewkesbury, 2020-09-09)

#617

This is a great bit of outdoor space for people to exercise, socialise and enjoy the beautiful countryside whilst staying active.

My husband loved this golf course and had a hole in one here. Also his ashes are scattered by the memory tree.

Valerie Hayward (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#634

I’m signing this because it’s a rare treat to play golf as a society at Cleeve Hill and has provided many wonderful memories on a unique course and the golf club and all its staff have been so welcoming.

Julian Page (Kenilworth , 2020-09-09)

#636

My family have been playing golf there for generations and have had many family gatherings there. It is a part of the local leisure history. Surely with the growing population in the region it could be updated and saved for future generations. Another piece of history that is going to be obliterated due to greed.

Lisa Davies ( Bishops Cleeve , 2020-09-09)

#639

I think this us a disgraceful decision. Obviously with little consideration for the larger point of view.

Rob Bullock (Hereford, 2020-09-09)

#640

This is a designated area of outstanding natural beauty and We need to keep this facility here for the growing population in Cheltenham and surrounding areas. We do not need another hotel complex because as we all know the building and development won’t stop there.

Sandra Caudwell (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#641

I play at Cleeve... don’t close it!!

Russell Harper (Winchcombe, 2020-09-09)

#642

I have enjoyed playing this beautiful but tricky course.

Sue Chance (Hereford, 2020-09-09)

#645

This is a fabulous facility, unique in its location, history and views. Playing golf here is a wonderful experience and the course, if it closes will be sadly missed.

Geoff Billington (Fillongley, 2020-09-09)

#649

This is a great facility that ought to be retained. Golf is a great sport providing benefits to the community the council should be supporting.

Mark Bates (Kidderminster, 2020-09-09)

#650

It is a wonderful amenity for Gloucestershire and provides huge pleasure to many people and keeps them fit. It would be a travesty to develop this beautiful land for housing

Vivien Burroughs (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#651

It’s a disgrace to sell this club for profit and not use it for the area

Darren Levers (Cheltenham , 2020-09-09)

#653

It is a beautiful course in an idiotic setting

Drew Whiteford (Coventry , 2020-09-09)

#657

Dan Gorick (Manama, 2020-09-09)

#660

It’s a great (unique) course and it would be a travesty to lose it.

IAIN MCLEOD (Kenilworth , 2020-09-09)

#661

Cleeve Hill Golf course is a Gloucestershire institution. Not only is it a great course to play but it’s kept areas offer the public in general a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the vistas from Gloucestershire’s highest point.
Another shocking view of local government being out of touch with the public their are supposed to support

Philip Cottam (Cheltenham , 2020-09-09)

#662

It’s a shame to lose a sporting facility
Surely there’s a better solution

Graham Jones (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#664

The course is an essential leisure activity and outlet for local people and tourists to the area. It brings much needed revenue and is a real asset, if you close it now, it will never come back again, the opportunity will be lost, just to save a few quid now. There must be another way??

Edward Cook (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#666

My Grampy played golf here for most of his life and met my Nan here too, it would be such a shame to see it go. So many memories!

Gabrielle Widdows (Cheltenham , 2020-09-09)

#668

This is a vital part of the area and used by visitors

Anne Fernandez (Gloucester, 2020-09-09)

#670

I play Cleeve golf course regularly. Has to be the best views from any course I’ve played.

Richard Martin (Worcs, 2020-09-09)

#673

It’s one of the best courses that the general public can play, with stunning views for miles, very friendly. An area used by everyone, golfers, walkers, horse riders, families. I have played golf there for years in all kinds of conditions, it’s always been a pleasure, the pro is superb, and a tough challenge in the wind for any golfer of any level, it would be criminal if you were to be closed down.

Geoff Dyer (Bristol , 2020-09-09)

#676

It’s a landmark of Cleeve Hill

Jo Hicks (Cheltenham , 2020-09-09)

#678

Despite everything, our spaces continue to disappear

Steve Norman (Cheltenham , 2020-09-09)

#681

This is a historical and important local attraction

Angus Maclean (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#682

This is a very special and unique golf course. It fits beautifully within its landscape. It does not disrupt it, it complements the environment and lives symbiotically with the sheep, rambles, horses etc. It works. Why change it? Is someone making money??

Murray newham (Wolvey, 2020-09-09)

#683

Not just for the golf course but the cafe is really good and lots of people use it and the hill is for everyone to enjoy

Eunice Hall (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

Grace Smalley (Winchcombe , 2020-09-09)

#694

Jonathan Ashton (Coventry, 2020-09-09)

#696

For year it’s been an active golf club and pit stop for walker on cleeve common. With the only other toilet facilities being turn into a house.

Dave LeRoy (Cheltenham , 2020-09-09)

#699

It is a unique golf course

Stephen Clayton (Tewkesbury , 2020-09-09)

#700

This is a vital resource and one of the few sporting amenities available in the area that combines exercise with fresh air and stunning scenery.

Louise Houston (Port Isaac, 2020-09-09)

#701

Fantastic course and club house - sells the cotswolds well

Declan mclaughlin (Birmingham , 2020-09-09)

#710

Golf is important and members of Cleeve Cloud GC clearly want it to remain open.

Thomas Jones (Birmingham, 2020-09-09)

#713

This cannot happen, the golf club and cleeve hill must be left alone so future generations can enjoy its beauty. It would be devastating if we lost it to ugly construction.

Julie Cross (GLOS, 2020-09-09)

#714

it's a fantastic golf course

Chris Wilde (Worcester, 2020-09-09)

#715

This is a facility of vital importance to the wider community and golfing fraternity of the UK. It provides important health facilities for young and old and has proven to be able to work in harmony with the owners of the land and their aspirations for the ecosystem management. Frankly this seems more to do with the greed of a local council who will themselves control future planning on the site - if they wish to be transparent then in upholding the decision they should In advance determine covenants on what it can be sold for - perhaps simply flatten the clubhouse and improve the parking for the many visitors with no economic gain to the council coffers - I expect however they believe they can millions from the land sale privately!!

Scott Jameson (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#719

Cleeve Hill GC is recognised by golf critics as a classic inland links like golf course, often recommended as a must play course. There is no harm to the environment by having this course and it's a Gloucestershire gem.
Some proper marketing, flexible membership packages & more realistic green fees would surely make this facility profitable. And by the way if Tewkesbury councillors aren't aware - golf membership is booming in these covid times!!!

JOHN SMITH (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#720

We have to preserve our heritage, that golf course has been there for 125 years and the thought of possible houses being built is appalling, council spend some money and do the clubhouse up there are hundreds of walkers using that area and with the right people in charge you could generate an income

Mary Reddicliffe (Gloucestershire , 2020-09-09)

#721

I am signing this petition because this is an important and historic golf course that It would be a travesty if It were to close and be lost. I travel a significant distance several times a year to play this beautiful and unique course. This course blends perfectly with its environment and is a fantastic asset that is happily shared by so many people - walkers, dog walkers, runners, horse riders, mountain bikers etc. This stunning course should be maintained for both current players and future generations to enjoy!

Chris Davies (Aberdovey, 2020-09-09)

#725

Should be kept open for the public and run on a no profit basis

Robin Stagg (Gloucester, 2020-09-09)

#729

Cleeve Hill GC is a glorious facility which would be tragic to lose. It affords youngsters & the not-so-well-off the chance to enjoy golf in a wonderful setting . I love walking on the hill & my pleasure is in no way compromised by seeing others out on the golf course enjoying themselves . We nearly lost the iconic Sandford Lido a few years ago in a similar coup & we must protect other outstanding landmark local facilities for the future . Please reconsider this decision .

Steve Pratt (Cheltenham , 2020-09-09)

#731

I am a member and I don't believe full transparency or public consultation was considered.

David Allen (Cheltenham , 2020-09-09)

I’m signing because Cleeve is a very special, unique golf course which provides a great test to your golf. It is also affordable to everyone. It’s a big loss when the interest in golf is growing and what a fantastic way to get people exercising more in the fresh air.

Grant McIntosh (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#796

I love the golf course. An inland lincs , a county treasure. This cannot go to waste. A golf course as good as this would take a 100 years to mature to this quality of course. How much money is needed ??

jonathan sankson (Bourton on the Water, 2020-09-09)

#797

One of the best sporting venues in Cheltenham with so much history
