Metelkova is one of the last open and free places in central europe. For decades it is influenciall far beyond europe. It brings together people from all over the world and is an example for an open society that works. To tear it apart would be an act of intolerance and barbarism. We need this historically grown comunity as a mirror for our society and a fertile ground for cultural growth and diversity. It is a child of the slovenian independence that turned a prison into freedom it is a part of the slovene and european identity aswell as a world harbour where people from all over the world meet in a peacefull way and connect. To protect communities is one of the most important duties of the state! Don#t turn it back into a prison of any kind but leave the buildings to the ngos and support them!

Metelkova and its current members/collectives/organisations are integral for Slovenia and the international Art, Culture & Activism production.

The Peace Institute does important work and along with the other organisations being evicted, should be offered support, otherwise the government risks being viewed as targeting civil society organisations.

as a frequent cultural visitor to Slovenia, Metelkova and the groups that it houses have proven themselves since the independence of Slovenia to be a vital haven for free thinking and the arts in the country!

I support the work of Stripburger and would find it a great shame if they had no place in which they could do their amazing work.

Stripburger is an incredibly important organization in the international comics and arts scene, one of the most well known (if not *the* most well known!) Slovenian voices in this area.

... human and civil rights are not negotiable, and the work of NGOs must be supported! I have been working with the Peace Institute in Metelkova for years and I deeply appreciate and admire their work. International solidarity is necessary here - against nationalist narrow-mindedness and for a world of human rights, for freedom of art and research.

The arts are a bedrock of free and open society's, just like research science which seems to lead nowhere but eventually cures cancer or develops a vaccine for covid 19 the arts may seem unimportant but their presence ripples out creating a greater good and a better, richer society.

I worked for one of the organizations in Metelkova 6. It‘s the most important place for research, development and education in contemporary socio-cultural life in Slovenia. Loosing that place would lead to a decrease in relevance and international attention forvthe whole cultural sphere. Rightwing politics tries to dismantle the institutions of civil society. In the end this is a thread to democracy itself. Don‘t allow them to be successfull!

I'm signing this because I've been lucky enough to play two brilliant gigs at Metelkova (1994 and 2009) and it was such a fantastic and inspiring place run by such amazing friendly people which absolutely deserves everyone's support and needs to be around for many more years to come.

That this unique spot of such international radiation and intense presence is put on risk is not only not comprehensive – but unthinkable!!!!

I support this petition because the same thing happens in Albania and Kosova. We need to ensure that funding recognizes, respects and builds on local resources and assets, rather than over looks, undermines or displaces.

Without culture, a society is nothing. Not to mention that kicking people out of their buildings during a pandemic is pure evil.
