As a layperson, those I care about most as well as myself, need the Sacraments. More importantly, the world needs the sacrifices offered by the Catholic Church, now more than ever in such a tumultuous year.

I am signing this because secular authorities do not care about the spiritual life. We know a lot more now than we did in March and I hope this new information will help guide you into keeping our churches open.

Sacraments are not just one of the essentials, they are THE essential. Withholding them is scandalous to so many faithful Catholics, and forcing everyone to mask up and disinfect so that our priests' faces are obscured and the faithful are hidden, and our Lord tastes like alcohol sanitizer, is truly one of the worst things I have experienced in my Catholic life. People are walking into churches everyday contracepting, cohabitating, voting for pro-abortion candidates, and then receiving the Eucharist no questions asked, but faithful Catholics who want to go to Mass unmasked are treated as selfish and uncaring in some parishes; those who wish to receive our Lord on the tongue are often set off like they're stubborn lepers who lack charity, or are denied all together, all in the name of physical health. It's heartbreaking to me as a convert. Be healthy, be smart, be holy? This was a message of inverted priorities from the beginning, and your flock and many of your priests are desperate for you to correct this. There is no evidence that any of the so-called precautions are doing anything to change the virus one way or another, but the spiritual crisis is quite another thing. The decision to place physical conditions on reception of spiritual sustenance will have lasting effects on all of us, but most especially our children. Please, our beloved Bishop, look at the data, seek out the doctors who have tried to contact you with their dissenting medical opinions, hear the cries of those who are willing to die for their faith. This is not a time to restrict access to the sacraments, this is the time to throw open the church doors and welcome all who wish to gather; to be not a reflection of the fear being pushed in the world, but the sign of hope that contradicts it.

Lockdowns are precisely the wrong reaction to virus with a 99+% survival rate, and have done far more harm than good. Compounding the financial hardship of these restrictions with unnecessary spiritual hardship is the last thing we need from our leaders. Do not take the Mass away from us again.
