Stop Constant Power Outages in Alberton

I’m sick and tired of paying for substandard service!! The amount of power outages in Alberton in 2020 alone make me want to stop paying!! The New Redruth grid is overloaded because of the insane amount of newly developed complexes that have been built. ZERO upgrades have been done to the power grid to accommodate the additional demand on the grid!!

This needs to stop🛑😡

I am gatvol for the electricity outages in my area!

The number and frequency of power outages are simply unacceptable.

The infrastructure is not being upgraded, and so called "cable theft" as an excuse I simply do not buy. These substations are National Key Points, and need to be protected at the very least by the Defence Force. If not them the Metro Police should make resources available to avoid vandalism and cable theft.

These outages are draining on our dwindling cash resources, pose security risks to all residents and using resources available, these adverse effects can most definitely be avoided.

It is about time that the Town Council put shoulder to the wheel.

It affects me negatively and it’s an extra cost because electronics etc blow and food is wasted through the unplanned outages, as well as it being a security risk for everyone.

I’m tired of the constant outages and am now seriously considering installing solar power. Either they need to sort this out or offer residents a rebate to install solar power.

I'm signing because I'm tired of this nonsense. We're tax payers and pay a premium for electricity and we NEED our government to act and start up keeping the infrastructure. Trust me... Carry on this path. Those same people that are getting tired, are seeking alternative sources of power, which will mean less money going into Eskom.... Wake up and start working HARD!! to regain the trust of your clients...
If you don't want to... You're actually inadversely affecting your own pockets and the pockets of your future generations... By disinvestment of our country... Which drops the value of our currency... Wake up people!! While it's not too late....

John Paulsen (Newmarket, Alberton, 2020-12-14)

I'm signing this petition, as the level of power outages on Alberton is extreme... This affects many businesses in the area, which employ many local residents... Loss of working time due to no electricity will see a rise in unemployment in the area.
Not only do these outages affect business, residents lose perishable goods on a large scale, which council can be held liable for. Lack of maintenance and infrastructure is the main cause of the problem, why do residents pay rates to Ekurhuleni, if these funde are not applied to the upkeep of the infrastructure within the area?

Vanessa Grobbelaar (Alberton , 2020-12-14)

#260

The people of Alberton deserve better for their tax money. Constant power interruptions have a severe effect on people's lives.

I'm signing because as a resident of Alberton since 2002, the recent power outages over the last 2-3 years is simply not acceptable. The situation is clearly mismanaged by a useless mayor who is more interested in being controversial on Twitter than managing EMM.

Nash Naidoo (Alberton, 2020-12-14)

#290

Totally gatvol of these power outages. And extremely slow response time. The Major should get out of his office, catch a wake up and admit to the poor service, as well as his poor communication and lack of interest. Can the powers at be, please open the door and get out of the gravy train and comfort zone and take everybody's concerns at heart. And get Alberton back to the standard it was and not the Major's and his ruling parties standards.

Lousile Maritz (Alberton, 2020-12-14)

I'm signing because while working from home the very high number of power outages are influencing my work. It's ridiculous that we have power outages for more than 12 hours at a time and have these almost once a week. How is it so easy to access and steal or damage the cables and why does it take so long to locate the problem and resolve it.

Carika Du Preez (Alberton , 2020-12-14)

#319
