PETITION FOR THE INTRODUCTION OF A SHORT STAY PARKING CHARGE OPTION IN LONG STAY CAR PARKS IN GWYNEDD

Comments

#203

It is a ridiculous charge and will put people off.
On holiday I could be spending £20+ as I go from beach to castle to shops etc. As this new parking tariff has been added to all local car parks

Anthony Jackson (Burton on Trent, 2021-07-02)

#205

By not adding a short stay option Gwynedd council is stopping people parking to visit a very popular beach and cafe.
People won’t pay for 5 hrs parking if they want an hour walk on the beach. People will then start parking on roadsides which will cause congestion.

Ellie Jones (Harlech , 2021-07-02)

#207

When I visit I may want to just go to the local shops for a couple of hours, if there’s no ST parking it’ll make it difficult fir me to pop into town.

Fiona MacMichael (Swanscombe, 2021-07-02)

#208

I think it’s disgraceful to charge this amount and there is no short stay option.

Debbie Finch (Cheshire, 2021-07-02)

#209

We walk our dog from the car park approximately 3/4 hour reinstate short stay parking fee please

Bernard Watts (Harlech, 2021-07-02)

#212

Its a lovely place to walk and then go to the cafe for just a short while. So by putting the car park as a long stay will put me of going back for sure. The council should br try to help small businesses at this very difficult time. Not putting things like this in place. Which may put this small lovely cafe out of business.

Gillian Clarke (Leicestershire, 2021-07-02)

#213

I work in a coffee shop in Criccieth- the high street is already congested with parked cars and this will only make things worse. The car park is a great link to the high street but no one will pay £5.50 to spend an hour in the high st, popping into the shops so local businesses will suffer. This also seems to be the case elsewhere, for example Llandanwg.

Rhys Westlake (Criccieth, 2021-07-02)

#214

I agree with the petition.

Paul Jarvis (Oxford, 2021-07-02)

#216

It's out pricing people who have been going there like my family for decades

Alan Andrews (SUTTON COLDFIELD, 2021-07-02)

#217

This is a disgusting increase with no consultation of local residents. This will damage the wider tourisum for the local area.

Stephen Thomson (Harlech , 2021-07-02)

#219

I think these charges are excessive

Angela McAree (Newcastle Under Lyme, 2021-07-02)

#220

I’m signing because I visit this area regularly. Sometimes we stay all day. Others times we stop of just for coffee or short stop to relax. But with no shorter option where the cost for a short break will go up. I’m more than likely to pass through and not add anything to local economy

Paul Rollings (Grays, Thurrock, 2021-07-02)

#221

I am signing because this is daylight robbery and to put up charges by 500% is very very wrong. Gwynedd council showing its true colours of greed as usual!

Lucy Powell (Harlech, 2021-07-02)

#222

Bring back the previous options of short stay parking. Local people want this option. We want to support the cafe and the church (when it opens). Why hike the parking times and prices up anyway? This will hit the local people. Its ludicrous and what is the justification behind it?
Gladly signing this petition to support Graham Perch and his fabulous cafe.

Dawn Axworthy (Llanbedr, 2021-07-02)

#223

People should be allowed to choose how long they're staying

Rachel Thomas (Barmouth, 2021-07-02)

#225

I use the car park on llandanwg daily and won't be from now on...

Cari Owens (Harlech, 2021-07-02)

#226

This will adversely affect those wishing to visit our ancient church and have some refreshments at the cafe. There is no alternative short stay parking facility and not everyone wishes to stay more than an hour or two.

Pamela Odam (HARLECH, 2021-07-02)

#227

Ridiculously high

Barry Wood (Talsarnau, 2021-07-02)

#228

This is so important to the community, people can't be expected to pay such an amount, it will drive visitors and locals away from the beach and shops.

Sally Roberts (Harlech , 2021-07-02)

#229

As a user of many local car parking ,many on very min timing

Hharry Richmond (Trawsfynydd, 2021-07-02)

#231

There should be short stay cheaper options in car parks, otherwise you will just move the problem and people will just park on the roads leading up to car parks. That will make it more dangerous for everyone

Gwen Cooper (Caernarfon, 2021-07-02)

#233

Feel very strongly that we are overcharging the parking charges in long stay car parks. There should be an ability to stay for just an hour too.

Stephanie Evans (Harlech , 2021-07-02)

#234

I feel its totally unfair that people are being forced to pay for a whole day its a rip off . I will take my business to another County. Welcome to Wales. You want visitors money but dont want to give any service . Discusting.

Maggie Hopkins (Wrexham, 2021-07-02)

#235

The local businesses will suffer if people are forced to pay this charge . These prices equate to major shopping areas in large cities, not visitors wishing to use a small business in small rural areas.
Businesses have suffered enough due to covid and to introduce this charge as lockdown is lifting is a travesty.

Kath SYLVESTER (Harlech , 2021-07-02)

#238

I’m signing because this is an isolated beach with a small car park, rising car parking will add to the on-street road parking problem. No one will visit this car park.

Andrew Collinson (Polesworth, 2021-07-02)

#239

I believe in the cause

Zoe Rogerson (Harlech, 2021-07-02)

#240

I'm sunning this petition as this car park is not just for long stay visitors to Llandanwg beach but for those who can only stay for a short while at the beach with their children, elderly relatives or are local and it fits in with their lifestyle to just pop for a walk along the beach, for those locals and tourists who just want to pop to llandanwg beach to the cafe for food etc.

Sandra Hooson (Blaenau Ffestiniog , 2021-07-02)

#241

The new charges will be detrimental to Llandanwg.

Rita Richards (Llandawg, 2021-07-02)

#242

We often walk down to the beach at Llandanwyg and find it very dangerous to dodge cars that are parked on the side of the road plus those pulling in or out because they don't wish to pay the parking charge. Surely this will only get worse with such a price hike.

Faye Nash (Manchester, 2021-07-02)

#244

I like to walk on the beach and use the cafe. The church is also a lovely place to visit. £1.10 was very reasonable for 4 hours but £5.50 is too expensive for a short stay.

Peter Klages (Oswestry, 2021-07-02)

#245

I frequently visit and may only want to park for a couple of hours.

Siwan Hill (Caerdydd, 2021-07-02)

#248

Easy access to beach for older dog and self and nice cup of coffee after walk

Linda Dobson (Market Drayton, 2021-07-02)

#249

Give people the option.

Julie Thomas (Harlech , 2021-07-02)

#250

I'm a pensioner and this is just too much

Colin Philpott (Penrhyndeudraeth, 2021-07-02)

#251

Local councils should not be putting their own money grabbing interests ahead of local businesses, who they should remember pay their wages

Robin Ward (Holyhead , 2021-07-02)

#253

It's preventing people visiting local businesses short term.

Gareth John Williams (Talybont Nr Barmouth, 2021-07-02)

#255

I'm signing because this charge is excessive, especially for local people just wanting to visit their beach and walk on it for half an hour.

Martin Hughes (Harlech, 2021-07-02)

#257

This kick in the teeth to local small business is totally unacceptable

David Penny (Harlech, 2021-07-02)

#258

Living locally I often visit Llandanwg beach and Y Maes to walk my dogs. I spend no more than 50 mins there. I also bring my elderly parents down to Llandanwg so that they can spend half an hour on the beach. At 89 and 84, mobility is an issue for them and they are unable to walk far. How is this fair on those of us who only want to spend a short time in the area? Are our needs not important?

Fiona Williams (Harlech, 2021-07-02)

#259

This car park needs a short term pricing structure.

MIke Skerrett (Dolwyddelan, 2021-07-02)

#260

There are many visitors who go for a bite at the café, a quick walk on the beach or to visit the church. My wife has a mobility issue as do other older people who wish to visit the beach, we need to drive to the car park to access the café the church or the beach, paying £5 is not an option. Not enough thought has gone into this decision.

Tony Kaufman (Bury, 2021-07-02)

#261

A short stay option is needed for anyone just wanting a quick visit to the area, ideal for a quick walk and a coffee at the local cafe this would attract far more people and more money would be made in the long run ….why punish your local residents? it’s a non brainer really

ElandMac Greenhalgh NannyNip (Criccieth, 2021-07-02)

#262

The pricing structure is ridiculous.
It’s bad for local business and for anyone who just wants to take a stroll along the beach
When will you wake up snd realise you need tourists, surely covid has taught you this. Stop alienating the tourist

Amanda Sims (Lichfield, 2021-07-02)

#263

Because I am local and use this car park. Usually for an hour or so at a time. We have a largely elderly population here who use the Maes to exersise because it is flat. It is also going to have a huge negative impact on the business (cafe) on the car park. People are already turning up and turning away not willing to pay this ridiculous sum of money for a short stroll on the beach. Or a lunch at the cafe. This wrong on so many levels.

Dawn Gregory (Llanfair. Harlech, 2021-07-02)

#264

I think that there should be an option to pay for short term parking, as more times than not people want to stay for a couple of hours.

Tracey Lewis Jones (Porthmadog , 2021-07-02)

#266

I’m signing because this is causing visitors to not support a local business

Frankie Jones (Harlech, 2021-07-02)

#267

People who only want to visit the beach, cafe, church and spend an hour there, will be put off by this cost. This will have a detrimental affect, especially on the lovely little cafe which for many is the main draw. A short term charge-which is common in car parks all over-would be a fairer scheme.

Gail Robinson (Liverpool, 2021-07-02)

#268

We want to attract visitors not send them elsewhere!!

Alan Edwards (Harlech , 2021-07-02)

#269

Both locals and visitors park in order to use the local shops. They only need an hour, not all day.

Jan Cole (Harlech , 2021-07-02)

#271

The steep increases in charge and lack of option for short stay is excluding local people from our favourite beauty/swim/dog walk spots

Kate Williamson (Porthmadog, 2021-07-02)

#272

There should be an hourly/ 2 hour rate. As it stands it will successfully kill off some local businesses - shame on you.

Alan Smith (Harlech , 2021-07-02)

#273

To put up the parking charges like that is criminal. It will destroy local business.

Mike Watkins (Shrewsbury , 2021-07-02)

#274

Shameful

Sarah Gilmour (Leeds , 2021-07-02)

#275

This an outrage why such a price hike for such a lovely little spot and it will ruin the custom for the lovely little cafe there

Stephen Soanes (Stoke on Trent , 2021-07-02)

#276

This will put people off spending just a few hours on the beach with kids. Its too much. The result will be people trying to park on the roads etc and the place gets congested. The price rise is not reasonable.

stephanie hiscox (HARLECH, 2021-07-02)

#277

Short stay options need to be available for local businesses and local people. When i take my dog for a walk i am not going to pay for 4 hours parking.

Helen Leeder (Porthmadog, 2021-07-02)

#278

Mi fuaswn yn hoffi cael yr opsiwn I brynu tocyn ychydig oriau byr I gerdded y ci

Nia Roberts (Blaenau Ffestiniog , 2021-07-02)

#279

Not everyone wants to stay for 4 hours. Sometimes we drive up to spend a couple of hours after school, or maybe visit Y Maes Cafe. I would rather spend my money in there and support a local business that has struggled through lockdown than spend it on parking. Please offer 1 or 2 hours tariffs for people who want this option!

Laura Lewis (Llanbrynmair , 2021-07-02)

#280

It's an outrageous change in tariffs and entirely excludes local people from using the beach for short times.

Olivia Patricio (Harlech, 2021-07-02)

#281

local people can still enjoy visiting their local beach and meet up with other locals for a coffee and catch up with out having to pay the price!

mrs Brooks (Matlock, 2021-07-02)

#282

I often visit the cafe in on the beach and ha e to pay for a long stay ticket when I might only be less than an hour.

Simon Stevens (Birmingham, 2021-07-02)

#283

I regularly take my children for exercise on Llandanwg beach. But as a single parent there's no way I can afford a £5.50 parking charge for a walk. I now cannot use the beach.

Emma Tomkins (Blaenau Ffestiniog , 2021-07-02)

#284

I like to go to Llandanwg beach, and others, but may only go for a walk and to visit local shops

Julie Evans (Penrhyndeudraeth, 2021-07-02)

#287

It's disparity for locals

Philippa Symonds (Dolgellau, 2021-07-02)

#288

I am a former long term resident of the area. Now a fairly frequent visitor. I view these charges as short sighted and damaging to the local economy.

Keith Durrant (Brecon, 2021-07-02)

#289

Local Businesses would benefit from a fairer parking charge for day visitors

Spencer Atkins (Westcliff on sea , 2021-07-02)

#290

Once again Gwynedd CC shows its stupidity!! No thought for the local residents who pay their over inflated wages through our taxes.

Gareth Williams (United Kingdom, 2021-07-02)

#291

I’m signing because I believe that £5 is ridiculous for parking and not everyone wants to stay for a whole 12 hours. Also this would encourage tourists to park on sides of roads

Jacob Dawson (Harlech, 2021-07-02)

#292

I visit regularly for a coffee, bring friends to the church and a short walk. This charge would stop me from visiting at all. The cafe would lose a sale and the church would lose a donation.

Rebecca Steed (Gwynedd , 2021-07-02)

#294

A 500% increase in car parking is extortionate. It is in no way fair, particularly after people so need a holiday after virtually 2 years of lockdown. Wales needs to welcome visitors and Wales needs the revenue they bring to the area. However revenue from parking will not produce jobs in the area. It will destroy businesses and jobs. Sorry but if Joe Public could afford £5 for half an hours parking they would be able to afford to holiday in the Malvives. Short sighted to the extreme. Please think again

Linda Ward (Stoke-on-Trent, 2021-07-02)

#295

I pay enough council tax without being fleeced and having my paying guests fleeced in order to use our local beaches for an hour or so each day over the summer. Gwynedd council are profiteering from our visitors and penalising residents by not having a lower tariff.

Melissa Roberts (Dyffryn Ardudwy, 2021-07-02)

#297

I thought the idea in Wales was to encourage tourism and local businesses this will not happen if you price yourself out of the market

Leslie Crompton (Northamptonshire , 2021-07-02)

#298

I'm signing because many users of this car park, including myself, only need to park for an hour or so when visiting. It is preposterous to expect visitors parking there to pay so much. This should be challenged, reviewed and changed immediately. Common sense should apply.

Mark Proctor (Leeds, 2021-07-02)

#299

I am signing because its a too much! Charge per hour… like it use to be

Sara Hughes (Other, 2021-07-02)

#300

When I visit, I often park here for an hour or so. It's so convenient! Please don't change it.

Victoria Nicolaou (Bedford, 2021-07-02)

#301

I am more than happy to pay for parking but to have to pay a day rate for an hours visit will put me off visiting the area. Particularly if I will be parking in a number of places over the course of a day.

Peter Lloyd (Castleford, 2021-07-02)

#302

I would like to be able to go on holiday and visit for a short period of time and not pay for the whole day! Also it is not fair on the locals to have such a massive charge if they are just popping to the coast!

Mia Moody Pye (Lancaster, 2021-07-02)

#303

We love to visit this beautiful stretch of beach and visit the cafe when we visit my relatives. But unfortunately we shall not visit without the option for a short stay.. I can’t imagine many will need to be at this wonderful area for 12 hours but will instead park along the small roads leading up to the car park

Chell Williams-soanes (Stone, 2021-07-02)

#304

It is necessary to help users of nearby facilities

Jill Houlden (Mansfield, 2021-07-02)

#305

I pop out for an hour dog walk every day as do so many locals . We need a short stay option

Lisa Tomos (Bethesda, 2021-07-02)

#306

The charges will impact local people and the surrounding area

Haydn Colcombe (Halesowen , 2021-07-02)

#308

Not everybody wants to stay for 12 hours so its daylight robbery

DANIEL BROOKS (BARMOUTH, 2021-07-02)

#309

I think it's unfair that the only option is for all day. You should have athe right to choose a shorter stay option. When I pop to a local area to pick something up. I don't mind paying the £1 for an hour if I'm only there 15mins.

Krisie Brindle (Porthmadog, 2021-07-02)

#310

I often visit other beaches for short periods of time to explore, walk my dogs or litter pick. It is wrong to have to pay a fixed fee for such a long stay when I will probably be there less than hour. You WILL lose out on revenue if you don't offer shorter stay options.

Tina Triggs (Barmouth, 2021-07-02)

#312

This is fundamental common sense, if you want to pay a shorter visit to the beach or cafe then you shouldn’t have to pay long stay charges.

Roz Kaufman (Bury, 2021-07-02)

#313

Ita ridiculous that one of the largest car parks is long stay only. No wo der we all struggle to find somewhere to park

Amelia Mayo (Criccieth, 2021-07-02)

#314

this kills high street business and pop in's. The economy is reeling already without being blocked by our councils to prevent trade in teh name of greed.

Sian Humpherson (Porthmadog, 2021-07-02)

#315

Whilst sympathetic with the financial difficulties UK councils are facing, I think this initiative is counterproductive for the following reasons:
1. Discourages not only visitors but more importantly residents and regulars form using council car park for short visits due to the steep fee and will probably result in overflow to the access road which will upset residents and create risks for pedestrians
2. Will effectively make a visit to the local cafe' financially unviable putting at risk jobs and ultimately revenue to the Council
3. By discouraging access for short hops of 1-2 hours will ultimately result in a net loss of income to the Council itself.
Hope a compromise if reached in the end. We try and support local businesses whenever we can and would be disappointed to see another closure when already town centres are becoming deserted.

Stefano Seri (Birmingham, 2021-07-02)

#318

I think its a disgrace, £5.50p for 12hrs?
Who goes to the beach for that long?
Also small businesses are going to lose out due to these stupid charges, locals use the cafe to support local businesses and £5.50p for parking will stop this!
Common sense is required from Gwynedd Council……. Where is our ‘local councillor’ ? Are they going to help overturn this ridiculous parking costs???

Pete Jones (Harlech, 2021-07-02)

#320

I want to encourage people to the High Street and the beach

Pam Mayo (Criccieth, 2021-07-02)

#321

Local businesses rely on drop in customers, not just those who might spend the day in the beach. The café is one such example

Nicholas Muir (Lincoln, 2021-07-02)

#322

We often pop to Llandanwg beach with the children. After months of lockdown its so important that children are able to spend time in the outdoors. The long stay cost will prevent us from visiting the beach.

Sara Ashton-Thomas (Blaenau Ffestiniog, 2021-07-02)

#323

It's important to allow short term parking at Llandanwg so people can visit the store/cafe.

Mary Gladman (Swindon, Wilts., 2021-07-02)

#325

This will ruin it for the number of people who only want to walk their dog and go home. We need a short stay

Rachel Williams (Blaenau Ffestiniog, 2021-07-02)

#326

I’m a local resident who grew up visiting this beach and area.
The charges are disproportionate and unjustified for locals.

Naomi Greenhalgh (Capel Curig, 2021-07-02)

#327

It will be detrimental to trade at Y Maes beach cafe, which is a business I frequent when staying in my caravan at Llandanwg Holiday Home Park. Would hate for it to have to close because of the blanket imposition of this new charge.

Jennie Perks (Shrewsbury, 2021-07-02)

#328

The impact on the YMaes cafe is so potentially damaging that this must be reconsidered. Businesses have had it hard enough this last year without the council adding to their troubles and potentially ruining any hope of a recovery. A very ill-thought out move and one that cannot be justified.

Philip Hall (Rugeley, 2021-07-02)

#329

To support the local community

Robert Davis (Folkestone , 2021-07-02)

#332

I pop down to the beach for a few hours and can't afford to spend £5.50 a time, compared to the £1.10 previously.

Michelle Simons (Blaenau Ffestiniog , 2021-07-02)

#333

It makes sense!

Julie Evans (Caernarfon, 2021-07-02)

#334

I go down to paddle board and don’t mind paying two pounds but refuse to pay £5.50

eric j barnard (HARLECH, 2021-07-02)

#336

All parking should to free or at least reasonably priced to attract visitors (encourage them to return) to our area and to help local businesses.

Steven Roberts (Harlech, 2021-07-02)

#337

It will benefit the local businesses as some people may be put off by long stay charges when they only intend to stop for a short while

Danielle Cartwright (Sychdyn, 2021-07-02)

#338

I have often walked on Llandanwg beach and then popped in for a cuppa at Y Maes cafe. Definitely support short stay parking charges here.

Philip Kelly (Ardingly, 2021-07-02)

#339

This is an unfair increase which offers no short stay option. This penalises locals and has not been thought through at all. Please think again!

Ruth Liggett (Llanbedr , 2021-07-02)

#341

The car parking charges for Llandanwg beach have risen excessively. Local people are being penalised, a walk on the beach will be ridiculously expensive. Providing hourly rates would be a much fairer system.

Julie Parry (Llanbedr, Gwynedd, 2021-07-02)

#342

1. Local businesses will be greatly affected because visitors will not pay this amount for a short stay.
2. Gwynedd Council are doing this to make money from the Pandemic due the higher number of visitors coming to Gwynedd. It is just greed!

Chris Parry (Llanbedr, 2021-07-02)

#343

I live in Gwynedd and feel it is unfair on residents and visitors to have to pay a full day fee for a couple of hours

David Bursnall (Harlech, 2021-07-02)

#344

I am signing because the beach should be for everyone and it is regularly used by locals. People should have the option of a short stay fee. We should be encouraging local businesses to thrive as we come out of the pandemic and this exorbitant fee will result in congestion and potentially cause a hazard as beach users will opt to park along the road.

Karen Holland (Horncastle, 2021-07-02)

#345

As a 2nd home owner in Llandanwg, this new charge will radically affect the way this car park serves both residents and visitors alike for the worse. A short stay (1-2 hours) option is needed.

John Vernon (Ellesmere, 2021-07-02)

#346

I am signing because as usual the decision has already been made no matter what people think as usual decision makers not using common sense

Julie Rowley (Flintshire, 2021-07-02)

#347

It is totally wrong what has been done. More cars is the way to go. You will get more money with more cats

Karen leeson (Birmingham , 2021-07-02)

#348

It is ridiculous and very unfair to have no shorter stay parking charges that are less than £5.50. Very few people will stay for 12hrs and nobody can stay for 24hrs if there is no overnight parking allowed as presently stated on the car park signage!

James Wiltshire (Harlech , 2021-07-02)

#349

The Maes and beach at Llandanwg is a favourite place to visit for a walk, a visit to the church or a snack at the cafe. I’ll stay an hour, occasionally 90 minutes max. If I’m expected to pay £5.50 will mean I’ll stay away.

Peter Adams (Pensarn, 2021-07-02)

#350

I think to make people pay for 12hrs of parking is ridiculous. You are only going to encourage on the road parking which will impact residents and public services if an emergency were to arise. Sadly people with disability’s will also be penalised as your making them pay for 12hrs parking even if they want to visit the Cafe and can’t walk far.

Jo Pearce (Wolverhampton , 2021-07-02)

#352

It’s greedy and ridiculous. Who wants to go to places like Llandanwg for 12 hours!?

Damon John (Harlech, 2021-07-02)

#355

I think this is the right thing to do.

John White (Nailsea, 2021-07-03)

#356

The introduction of parking charges that do not allow the option to park for less than 12hours will impact on the Maes Cafe’s business , local residents/dog walkers and visitors who want to visit the beach//maes/cafe for shorter periods of time. This exorbitant increase in charges will force/encourage people to park all the way up the road past the railway bridge, caravan site entrances and beyond to the detriment of local residents and will have potential lethal consequences for:
- pedestrians that already have to walk on the road that does not benefit from a pavement for the most part
- occupants, dogs etc of the parked vehicles getting out of their parked vehicle directly onto the road and oncoming traffic
- emergency vehicles that need to access local properties, beach etc
- car drivers as the continuous line of parked cars on the road will not allow drivers to pass each other safely due to obstructed visibility of oncoming traffic and inability to ‘pull in” This is already evident on days when the beach is busy with visitors
-local residents and farmer who will have difficult accessing their driveways/fields
- church goers who have to pay a minimum of £5.50 for the privilege of visiting their chosen place of worship.
Finally, despite the warning sign on the council notice why would anyone want to park on the beach car park for 24 hours if it wasn’t for the sole purpose to camp or sleep in their motor home overnight, particularly when currently sites are fully booked well in advance and the prices they are now charging can be prohibitive

This is a ridiculous charge and is not in anyone's interest.
This will stop visitors and residents from using the carparks and enjoying the wonderful beaches we have.

Simon Dawson (Harlech, 2021-07-03)

I have known this area for in excess of 40 years. For decades decisions such as this have been made which have gradually sucked the life out of the local area. This could be the final nail in the coffin for local businesses and tourism alike. Such proposed parking charges are unnecessary. It will drive people away from the area, thus killing local businesses, as customers will be forced elsewhere. The proposed parking charges are ridiculous. After the lockdown of 2020 businesses need all the help possible as they try to recover and help to get the economy going again. Such proposals will only have a negative effect.

Stuart Morris (Kenilworth , 2021-07-03)

As a local we use the beach fairly frequently for only an hour or so.

Jennifer May (Llanelltyd, 2021-07-03)

I was born and brought up in Harlech. My mam has lived there her while life.. Why should we pay extortionate prices to walk on our local beach??? Disgraceful and greedy from gwynedd County Council

Michelle cross (Preston, 2021-07-03)

#362

It shouldn't be that expensive at a small beach, give people more reason to park on the roads making it dangerous

Sian Russell (Harlech, 2021-07-03)

#363

I feel it will not help the cafe business. And will cause chaos on the road

David Baker (Stourbridge , 2021-07-03)

#364

I believe there should be a short stay charge to enable visitors to visit the café or enjoy the beach for a brief leisurely walk. Greedy Gwynedd council is shooting themselves in the foot as revenue will decrease.

Richard Merley (Llanbedr, 2021-07-03)

#365

It’s totally unfair to all visitors. Locals & tourists. I use the car park & the local business on a regular basis, but this charge will stop me doing so

Llinos Davies (Llanbedr, 2021-07-03)

Parking now days are expensive and inconvenience and discouraging people to stop for a break (break needed on long distance) journey.

Neil Griffiths (Willenhall, 2021-07-03)

#369

I am signing because I have known the area and you should be able to stop and go to the church and do a short walk on the beach or common

Jean Riding (Merseyside, 2021-07-03)

#370

Unfair charge and will deter people from parking, using the cafe and the beach.

Monica Smith (Talybont, 2021-07-03)

#371

The all day charge won't be acceptable for the majority of visitors who visit the beach for an afternoon or morning customers will not frequet the cafe, they will lose business and after the last 18 months of lockdown, local businesses need all the customers they can get.

Julie Merley (Llanbedr, 2021-07-03)

#372

I am a regular customer of Y Maes Cafe and have been visiting the area for over 50 years. At £5.50 minimum cost I would not be using the car park.

Andrew Lacey (Trawden , 2021-07-03)

#373

What a crazy decision by the council. It makes absolutely no sense. If I pay for 24 hours parking this means I can stay overnight, which contradicts the sign saying no overnight parking!
Sort this out Gwynedd Council.

Henry Hughes (Harlech, 2021-07-03)

#375

We use the beach and it would be easier to park

Philip McAree (Newcastle, 2021-07-03)

#377

This long stay charge is so unfair to local residents who want to use local facilities for an hour or so. Cyngor Gwynedd have made Llandanwg beach and Y Maes financially inaccessible for many locals now. How is the cafe supposed to survive? Whoever came up with this decision is senseless and greedy. I wonder if they would be willing to pay this ridiculous fee??? I suppose not!!!

Rhian Roberts (Harlech, 2021-07-03)

#378

It's a complete disgrace with no thought for the cafe and the dog walkers that pop in there for a coffee.

Allan Jones (HARLECH, 2021-07-03)

#379

I am signing as a short stay charge is more likely that visitors like myself will want to return again. It is a lovely area.

Faye Merley (Whitchurch, 2021-07-03)

#380

Its appauling.. llandanwg is perfect for my dog to walk as she can’t walk very far , but at them prices there is no way!!!
Totally disgusting on Gwynedd councils part.. !!!

Angela hughes (Harlech, 2021-07-03)

#381

I'm signing as the fee is too much and not having the option of a short stay.

Christina Braithwaite (Harlech , 2021-07-03)

#383

It's an excessive charge
The parking on the road will be worse than ever
Those newly placed traffic cones are a bit of a joke
Many people don't want to stay a whole day
I am not sure what consultation there has been locally

Lydia Pearce (HARLECH, 2021-07-03)

#385

I'm a local that has stopped visiting places such as these due to the car park charges. its too expensive if you are only stopping for 2 hours or less.

keira Davies (Bala, 2021-07-03)

#386

Many people only go for short visits

Jill Braithwaite (Blackburn, 2021-07-03)

#387

I used to live in Wales no way will people pay to go on the beach

Emily Braithwaite (England, 2021-07-03)

#388

These parking charges are unreasonably high and are punitive for visitors only wishing to stay for a couple of hours.

Karen Richards (Telford, 2021-07-03)

#389

The charges being forced upon everyone are scandalous. It will eventually end up affecting business. After the last year you’d think the council would encourage visitors to the area and support local businesses!!!!!

Kerri Trahearn (Harlech , 2021-07-03)

#390

You will just cause on-street parking issues

James Glover (Kenilworth, 2021-07-03)

#391

It is unfair to expect someone who just wants a short visit or stop for a snack to pay a full day's charge

Margaret Vincent (Harlech, 2021-07-03)

#393

paying £5.50 a time when you are only planing a short trip is very off putting & it will negatively affect local businesses that rely on visitors

Sarah Price (Harlech , 2021-07-03)

#394

We need short stay option for local residents

Shan Rollason (Harlech , 2021-07-03)

#395

I visit Llandanwg about 8-10 times a year, and stay on or around the beach for an average of 2 or 3 hours. Including a visit to the cafe. I can not afford to pay the new charge. In winter I might only stay 1 hour. Will the Authority not lose revenue, as this charge is pushing drivers to park irresponsibly?

Gill Caldwell (Dolwyddelan , 2021-07-03)

#397

South Gwynedd gets very little in return for high council charges (bins emptied and thrown on the road). Seems to me that most of this kind of overcharging just pays fat cats' wages in Caernarfon.

David Evans (HARLECH, 2021-07-04)

#398

I'm signing because I use car park regularly to go for beach walk & visit cafe for 1 hour

Gina Hughes (Harlech, 2021-07-04)

#399

The parking fees have risen considerably in Gwynedd car parks. Many don’t have a 1 or 2 hour option. Extortionate when you only want a short stroll with dog, visit a couple of shops etc. And off putting to tourists who may take their much needed business elsewhere.
