Colleyville has to get better. I don’t want to be embarrassed of my home town. And right now I am.

Lora Shumate (Colleyville, 2021-08-09)

I'm signing because I worked at HMS for 6 years. I was included in many classrooms helping special education students. No one was teaching CRT. All teachers were helping all students be the best that they could be. Dr. Whitfield is exactly what our district needs. He loves our children and supports our staff. He is a roll model to all.

Marilyn Wood (Grapevine, 2021-08-09)

#1407

Dr Withfield does not deserve this type of treatment. There are rules that even his opponents need to follow.

Krista Kisselburg (Grapevine , 2021-08-09)

#1408

bc dr Whitefield is the goat

Taji Turner (Euless, 2021-08-09)

#1409

There is no place for racism like this, especially not in a school board meeting. This is what they are teaching their children.

Angela Warner (Fort Wayne, 2021-08-09)

First, some background. Read this: https://nypost.com/2021/08/06/black-principal-told-to-remove-facebook-photo-with-white-wife/amp/

This is the video of the board meeting. Start watching at the 1 hour, 17 minute point, 1:17:00. This is where members of the public could speak. Prepare yourself; most of it’s a disturbing display of religious superiority/revisionist history/denial and naked racism spouted by a small but loud group of ignorant, fearful, nasty bigots who live in our community: GCISD's Board of Trustees Regular Meeting- July 26, 2021 https://youtu.be/xfnkBddvDQs via @YouTube

These folks do not represent the values most Americans believe in or want our children to be exposed to. In fact, they are the perfect example of real-life, “Mean Girls”. Men and women who despise, distrust, fear and gleefully destroy anything that’s different, that they don’t understand, or contradicts the lies they tell themselves. They cling to conspiracy theories and a whitewashed, fictional past while accurate history. Facts have gone the way of the DoDo bird.

Why aren’t our students taught about Quakertown? Why aren’t our students taught the real reason for the battle at the Alamo and the Mexican-American war? Why does even a hint of sexuality in Black men terrify parents so much, particularly when it comes to Black men and white women? Why does this school board coddle such bigotry?

Even discussion of current events terrifies these folks! They fear critical thinking, self-examination, humanism, or anything that could lead to questions of what they’ve been taught to believe. They’d rather blame “other” or pretend something isn’t happening, fearmonger or lie than confront their own weaknesses, past mistakes, and fears. Anything to avoid inconvenient but necessary changes that would benefit everyone. It’s gotten so bad many no longer believe in science and they sneer at expertise (whether it’s Climate Change or Covid-19.). These folks don’t care who gets hurt as long as they can keep control and feel superior.

Truth doesn’t matter to them, and for some, neither do Jesus’ own words. And for craps sake STOP with the Judeo-Christian values crap! As a Jew, I resent being dragged into the hatefest on display at that board meeting. Most of us don’t use our religion as a weapon, we don’t fear differences, we don’t try to convert anyone and we would never try to legislate our religious obligations to limit the rights of others in any way. Most American Jews are Reform or Conservative Jews and we don’t “value” the same things as many evangelical whites. We are occupied with Mitzvahs in this life, not about what happens after we die or how you live your life. We have no fear of new ideas, we explore them. We value higher education. So stop lumping Judeo-Christian together, recognize multiple religions are practiced here. For the first time I’m history, most Americans are not affiliated with any religion at all. Change is constant.

So, let’s talk about American values instead. The values we should have. The value of a complete, unbiased, accurate education. The value of curiosity, honesty, listening, the potential value inherent in all born human beings, the value of always striving to be better, to keep learning throughout our lives. The value of laws applying to everyone, equally, the value of a democracy in which every citizen can vote with ease and without harassment or impediments thrown in their way. The value of compassion, love, family and community.

I believe Dr. Whitfield is exactly what the GCISD needs and I applaud his courage and the example he is setting for his students. We are lucky to have him. He’s a keeper.

I fully support Dr Whitfield. The egregious attempt by some residents of Colleyville to paint Dr Whitfield or any POC who is educated and in a position of power to effect change that don’t align with their view of history is blatantly wrong.

Letty Martinez-Roerig (Brownsville, 2021-08-20)

#1436

I feel that what he does in his personal life is private! The pictures are not questionable at all, it show 2 gorgeous people in love! People in this world need to stop getting so butt hurt over everything and just live!

Melinda Kristoff (Mayfield heights, 2021-08-20)

#1441

I am signing because I stand with this principle and do not stand for foolishness. He needs to remain in place as the principle

Sunny Mcray (Euless, 2021-08-20)

#1443

I’m signing because Dr. Whitfield does not need to be fired over someone’s racist remarks.

Angela Hellmers-Holmes (Euless , 2021-08-20)

#1447

dr Whitfield is a good principle and he cares about us therefore he should stay as principal and continue doing a great job

Gavin Dunsmore (euless, 2021-08-20)

#1449

There is absolutely nothing wrong with his picture. He’s showing love for his wife on his own PERSONAL page!

Chondra Taylor (Fort Worth , 2021-08-20)

#1454

As a founding teacher of CHHS I was so pleased to hear about their new principal last year. Either we accept and celebrate the diversity around us or we continue to turn a blind eye and a closed heart to the bigotry this man is trying to fight. Almost all local school districts are dealing with this backlash, please GCISD stand firm in your support of Dr. Whitfield!!!

Cathy Evans (Keller, 2021-08-20)

#1455

Im signing because Dr. Whitfield has been an exceptional example for our community and students. Im also signing because we need to send a strong message to our teachers and educators that they are supported from the racist and baseless attacks of a few in our community. Racism and hate should not be tolerated in our community.

Jessica Grace (Grapevine, 2021-08-20)

#1461

This is unacceptable!

Emily Wallace (Corbin, 2021-08-20)

#1465

I believe that it was wrong of them to ask him to take a picture down of him and his wife!

Stephanie Treadwell (Stevensville, 2021-08-20)

#1467

Dr. Whitfield should be afforded the same freedom, liberty, and safety to perform his duty as any fellow white member of the community. It is an embarrassment that a small group of bigots are making petty complaints about this man who’s done nothing wrong.

Joey Do (Colleyville , 2021-08-20)

#1469

I support Dr Whitfield

Nia Sisneros (Grapevine , 2021-08-21)

#1470

I am signing this petition because I have watched Dr Whitfield with his students. He is a rare breed. He loves his life, wife, kids, and his students. He does not teach hate.

Crissy Donegan (Ft worth, 2021-08-21)

#1471

The photos of doctor Whitfield and his wife are an example of a loving marriage. Dr. Whitfield is a devoted administrator and community leader that needs to be uplifted and celebrates for the work he does for KIDS each day!!

Allie Van Dine (Fort Worth, 2021-08-21)

#1473

Critical race theory doesn't teach anything, it doesn't prove anything, it just shows everything. In the land of the free, how is anyone comfortable with their children not seeing the whole truth and nothing but the truth. This instructor did nothing wrong, but those who wish to villify him are. You all believe him showing photos of himself celebrating the woman he believes worthy of his life, his love and his name are inappropriate? He married this lovely woman because his mind, body and soul united and told him this was the right decision for life! and you saw pass that just to focus on some "inappropriate" message it sends? Let me tell you the message it sends; I've been debating on whether to marry my woman because of the opinions of "others". Now, I'm going to marry her soon as possible because there is too much ugliness in America to waste time. The message it sends is this, do what's right for you and your loved one, even when the ugliness of America doesn't like how it looks. Do better!

Demetrius Brooks (Chicago, 2021-08-21)

#1474

This is the right thing to do when it comes to equality and to represent rights of all. We need ti evolve people and stop the hate. All lives matter.

Tony Caiozzo (Grapevine, 2021-08-21)

#1475

I’m signing this because I am a Colleyville Heritage Alumn and Dr. Whitfield is the change the school needs. Racism should not be allowed at any level.

Abigail Crites (Denton, 2021-08-21)

#1477

Politics should not rule our GCISD School Board.

Pat Marshall (Colleyville, 2021-08-22)

#1479

I’m signing because it’s the right thing to do! Dr Whitfield has been an advocate, mentor and more in the schools for our children and during a pandemic, too!

Jody Donald (Colleyville , 2021-08-22)

#1480

Racism needs to end

Angelina Parra (Tucson, 2021-08-22)

#1482

I’m disgusted by the way Dr. Whitfield has been treated by a very vocal minority within his community. We cannot let hate win.

Brenda Roche (Bedford, 2021-08-23)

#1485

2 kids in the district, one currently at Dr. Whitfield's school. I believe in facts, science, and equitable solutions to today's challenges. I'm sorry he has to go through something like this from people that don't.

Jeremy Johnson (Euless, 2021-08-24)

#1491

Dr. Whitfield is an awesome principal. I support him and all educators in open, honest discussion of race as a concept, a part of our shared history, as well as any personal experiences or opinions that they would like to share in an effort to ensure that GCISD graduates have a full and well rounded world view.

Rebecca Tearman (Grapevine, 2021-08-24)

#1492

This is so petty and unfair

Kelly Reedy (Justin, 2021-08-24)

#1494

Dr. Whitfield is an outstanding educator with proven results and outcomes at every school he has led. Not only has he produced successful outcomes for kids on his campuses, he has also coached educators across the nation. He helped me turn my campus around in Portland, OR where we welcomed conversations about race and equity. Dr. Whitfield is a model for success amongst all educators and a man of integrity. The epitome of what every educator should represent in the lives of every kid!

Terry Johnson (Portland, OR , 2021-08-24)

#1499

My sister went to HMS and now goes to CHHS so I know first hand how much Dr. Whitfield cares for all of the students and that he deserves to stay at CHHS

Anushka Kesavalu (Grapevine , 2021-08-25)

#1501

Dr. Whitfield is the only principal I’ve met who actually cares about each one of his students, who has tried to make a difference in their lives.

Kayla Wise (Euless, 2021-08-26)

#1509

As a Grapevine tax payer and a Black woman who lived through the era of Jim Crow and integrated my high school in 1964, I want to encourage Dr. Whitfield to continue fighting the good fight. We need more people willing to stand for all students and teach the truth about our past so these young people can grow to be thoughtful citizens who participate in a thriving society.

Paulette Turner (Grapevine, 2021-08-26)

#1512

Dr. Whitfield is a great leader and racist hate must be resisted.

Mary Metzger (Bellingham , 2021-08-26)

#1516

My friends go here and love the principle !!

Mina Salim (Keller , 2021-08-28)

#1517

This man has every right to share such a beautiful picture clearly depicting his love foe his wife. It does NOT make him any less of a great educator and leader and in fact, makes him a greater one!

Debra LaFleur-Trapp (Grapevine , 2021-08-28)

#1518

I’m signing because this is unnecessary and is blatant racism.

Eric Carroll (Frisco, 2021-08-28)

#1519

Gcisd some racist pigs

Husam Elsheikh (Euless , 2021-08-28)

#1522

I’m signing this petition because the former board member’s motive was clearly racism. Our children need to know and understand that racism is a ZERO tolerance matter and will be dealt with accordingly. Hood these racist parents accountable!

Debra Espinosa (Tyler, 2021-08-30)

#1530

Critical race theory should be taught in schools because it is the truth. To ignore the facts about how white communities have interacted with communities of color throughout history does a disservice to students. Truth is not offensive, and anyone offended by these truths are probably racist themselves.

Derek Holden (Bedford, 2021-08-30)

#1536

I am a parent of a freshman at CHHS. I am outraged, sick, saddened that the community I have lived in all my life is acting with such disdain towards a man clearly qualified to hold the position he holds. My son said “he is the best principal ever.” What a shame, an embarrassment, and a stain on my community. I will support Dr. Whitfield however I can.

Ashley Williams (Grapevine, 2021-08-31)

#1542

Parent of two former students whose interactions with Dr Whitfield left a positive mark on their scholastic career and lives.

Elliott Wohlferd (Waxahachie, 2021-08-31)

#1544

I am a GCISD parent and taxpayer and am incensed by the unfair treatment of the CHHS principal. You have undercut not only him but all teachers at that school. Reverse this decision and get back to supporting education by supporting educators.

Marty Schlenker (Grapevine, TX, 2021-08-31)

#1555

The treatment this principle has received is awful and should not be tolerated. The school board needs to stand up and call out the bias behavior by the people who have so wrongly accused him. To tolerate it and stand silent is to be just as guilty as those accusing him of these accusations. Do better!

Brittney Womack (Grapevine, 2021-08-31)

#1556

I'm signing because I support Dr. Whitfield. He is a great man and was one of my favorite high school teachers at Richland High School

Shaypher Ashe (Keller, 2021-08-31)

#1557

I think very highly of Dr.Whitfield and family. He truly cares about the students and pushes them to accomplish goals for their futures!

Terri Kennedy (Hurst, 2021-08-31)

#1560

I’ve known Dr. Whitfield for 15 years. He was my coach in high school and has been a true friend to my family and me. He is a fantastic educator and a better man. GCISD is lucky to have him as a principal

Matt Harris (Houston, 2021-08-31)

#1561

My kids go to school in GCISD & I support Dr. Whitfield.

Melisa Chan (Euless, 2021-08-31)

#1564

Dr. Whitfield has the unfailing support and love of the students he has led, as well as the teachers. His motivation is contagious, and he has been the best encouragement through undoubtedly the hardest year and a half of a global pandemic. He has had the courage to say things that have needed to be said in this district, and is being persecuted for that. I have been proud to see and hear his encouragement to explore our biases and learn how to be better humans.

Caroline Walsh (Grapevine, 2021-08-31)

#1565

It’s absolutely horrendous that Dr. Whitfield is being attacked like this. GCISD should be ashamed of their racist history and try to right these wrongs instead of digging in further.

Look at neighboring school districts to learn how diversity should be celebrated as opposed to shunned. I’m an educator myself and disgusted by the school board and anyone in support of continuing to spew hate.

Christina Hutchens (Euless, 2021-08-31)

#1570

I’m signing as a concerned BCE and HMS parent whose daughters will attend CHHS. We moved to our community so our daughters could be part of an excellent school district like GCISD. That was the #1 reason for us choosing our home. However, if GCISD lets itself be cornered by a small group of parents with bigoted agendas, then we’ve lost our way. You can stop this nonsense Dr. Ryan. GCISD is better than this. #IStandWithDrWhitfield

Maricarmen de la Cruz (Euless, 2021-08-31)

#1585

I believe Dr. Whitfield is being treated unfairly and I am incredibly disappointed that the school district I was educated in is not supporting him against the racially-charged slander and misinformation.

Christopher Johnson (Grapevine, 2021-08-31)

#1587

As an alumni from Colleyville Heritage this sickens me. Dr. Whitfield, we stand with you!

Jordan Hornbuckle (Colleyville, 2021-08-31)

#1589

Dr. Whitfield is exactly what GCISD needs to shake them from their comfort and wakeup to the realities of the world.

Michelle Cheeney (Colleyville, 2021-08-31)

#1591

I’m signing because this is an awful excuse for being racist, and racism has no home in North Texas or ANYWHERE.

Stephanie Turner (Flower Mound, 2021-08-31)

#1593

I feel this school or school district was looking for any reason to remove this principle from his position and saw a opportunity when his personal Facebook pictures became public. Shame on this school/school district for their behavior and actions.

Kitty Goodwin (Flower Mound, 2021-08-31)

#1594

I think what is happening to this msn is wrong.

Dawn Lydick (Fort Worth, 2021-08-31)

#1598

Dr. Whitfield is my son’s principal. I’m signing because I believe Dr. Whitfield has been treated unfairly. The accusations made against him are ridiculous and inappropriate. This needs to be corrected.

Carmen Stokely (Euless, 2021-08-31)

#1599

As an alumni of CHHS, I find this behavior of GCISD parents and the resultant action taken by the board to be extremely disturbing and not representative of the inclusive spirit of our school.
