I'm against the way the admin is treating the students. I cannot understand why there is a problem, with the minimum wages of mess workers. If the rule is passed they could be exploited. Interference with the professors' autonomy will hamper quality education. Also, these new rules differentiate students on the basis of their gender, in an institute that does not have an ideal gender ratio.

I think students should get max. freedom under certain rules and there should not be much restrictions on them for full development

I am a responsible student of this institution and as equal a part of the institute as any other faculty or people at administrative positions. This regressive behavior of institute's admin wouldn't be tolerated. Much needed step for healthy functioning of institution which favors the student body as well. No student can be forced to live in conditions which hampers her/his work (for instance restricting movement across the institution premises or being forced to share rooms post 5 yrs of PhD. enrollment, already the student is stressed at that time, administration is not doing us a favor by providing us with food and shelter, we bloody hell pay for it and it is our right to be able to live in a proper, safe and sound environment) or healthy functioning of mind, body and soul and the behavior of administration since past 1.5 yrs has been doing so. This is a mental torture and I am against it.

Inequality, injustice

These policies aim to take away autonomy freedom liberty from students, this should not be done by a progressive world class modern scientific, institute like ours. This act is very very far from being
justified and clear contradiction of progressive ideas and culture of IIT Kanpur

Iitk has been my home and imposing such rules over students feels like a lack of faith and injustice to the students. Instead of moving forward, these rules are going to take everyone 30 years back. We need justice. Save my home.

I don't like the regressive steps the admin is taking. They are systemically trying to reduce student freedom in IITK, and I wouldn't like that.

I am strictly against the autocratic agendas forcefully imposed upon the students of IITK by the administration.

AYUSH GOEL (BULANDSHAHR, 2021-10-22)

Because autocratic policies are in a way of implementation, totally ignoring students' views and oppressing our freedom and rights. These policies are not justified in any way,....
1. To vacate the room if going on leave for more than 14 days. Many students join here from distant places of India and they prefer to take leave once a year for more than 14 days, does it seem practical to take your belongings with you every time or submitting in hall office even.
2. Students with extended duration of programmes will be allotted room on sharing basis. Final year PhDs themselves have a lot of pressure and frustration for PhD completion. In an institute, where PhDs take 7-8 years..they will be forced to tackle joint room issues and to compromise with their personal space.
3. Students to workers ratio should be maintained and it should be mandatory for contractors to follow it, because it is now hampering our daily routines and creating havoc in mess and sanitation.
4. Inter hostel entry must be allowed for opposite gender students, for above 18. Hours must be restricted with proper ID submission, but our constitution does not support your policies too.
5. Wardens must not be allowed to interfere with academics, for any residential area related issues. Residential and academics are two separate parts of our campus life. And, in anyway, nobody can justify for warden hall interfering in academic related issues.
